Next year is looking like the year of the *really* nasty battleground: probably get a slim 360, new Halo, GT5, Mass Effect II, Bioshock II, Starcraft II, God of War, FFXIII (maybe), RE5, .... Ninty will need a few eye catching AAA titles to compete (a new Zelda + Mario wouldn't hurt...). ... Being in 1st-place affords Ninty some privileges, and this is one of them.

This is a good point, Nintendo haven't got much to compete against this Christmas, Resistance-lol sure, huge system seller. Gears 2 is the biggest thig really, but as the name implies it is gears "2", so apart from it's own software sales it won't do too much.
In fact they may have set themselves up to sell out in a really bad way just with Animal Crossing.
