| Parasitic said: I finally got tired of this PC not being able to play any newer games cause of how old and bad it is, so I decided to get a Ps3 or 360, and I'm having having a reaally hard time deciding which to get, and I got a few questions to ask: 1: Which controller is preferred by the majority? I thought I was gonna hate the 360 controller, but I ended up liking it abit. I actually have a 360 now, but it hasn't been 30 days yet so I can still refund it. I've never touched a ps3 and I've only tried the 360 for about 15 days now. One thing that's bothered me alot is most FPS's seem to use the right antalog stick to aim while using the left one to move. Do ps3 shooters usually use the D-pad or left antalog stick to move? One thing that really interested me about ps3 is the option to use a mouse and keyboard, which I'm really used to. Do all games support it and does it work well? When it comes to FPS and RPG's, is there a controller that's considered "better"? Those 2 are definitely my favorite genres. Most games I play are FPS though. Here goes - Im a PC/360/PS/Wii owner. Theres my credentials. The PS3 and Xbox360 controllers behave identically aside from a little sixaxis support on the PS3. For the mouse and keyboard IIRC it isn't supported in all games anyway, however the Xbox360 controller is arguably better for shooters anyway due to the triggers and the positioning of the sticks so your thumbs don't bang.
2: Main differences between XBL and PSN? I've been told by pretty much everyone that XBL is better. What exacly does it have over PSN? No matter which console I get, all I'm really gonna be doing is gaming so extra features that arn't really gaming-related don't really interest me. When it comes to having easy ways to find matches and a basic friends list, does XBL really have a big edge over PSN? Can't answer - don't go online but from what I hear the generally universal voice chat is useful and the friendslist and dashboard aparantly intergrate better into games.
3: Mod Support Easily the thing I loved most about PC gaming were used-made mods. It kept me playing some old games for a pretty long time. I saw a video about XBL vs. PSN and they seemed like complete opposites when it came to user-made mods: XBL doesn't really accept them so players won't have any advantages and because of legal issues. PSN welcomed them, and if I remember right, they actually encouraged it (I might be getting mixed up with a vid I saw about UT3). Mod support is existant but I wouldn't call it good on the PS3 but the Xbox360 seems to get more official downloadable content for games. Which may also include official mods in the future - watch this space.
4: Installations? I think I read somewhere that you actually have an option to install your games on the PS3 instead of using the disc....is this true or did I read somethin wrong? I also heard about installing times with MGS4.....since I've never seen or touched a ps3, can someone fill me in? PS3 games can require installations but the Xbox360 does not. However the Xbox360 has the option of a full install coming up so that your favourite games run faster with no wear on the disk and even better no noise from the drive. MGS4 requires an install at the start and a few installs all the way through - two things - A watch the cutscenes from the previous MGS installations or you wont understand the story and probably hate it as well like I did because they are dang long. Probably about 8 mins total install, I forgot haha! Also get used to the controller before you play the game, its not the easiest game to pick up first.
5: Popularity? The 360 is winning in sales from what I'm seeing, but I keep reading that the PS3 has been outselling it recently. Is this true? I usally never keep track of sales stuff but I got a little more into it when I was deciding which to get. Since I might end up playing online alot, having whichever is more popular would be nice. Both are viable, both have great shooters/exclusives coming out for them but with the extra money Microsoft gets for Live they can offer much more content/games than the PS3 can. Its not pure profit by any means. 6: Which will be the better choice as the years go by? I've heard alota people say that the ps3 is always getting better and better and that it hasn't really reached it's full potential. Right now, I've been told by many that the 360 is a better buy when it comes to gaming, but I've also been told that I might eventually prefer a ps3 in the future. This is one of the big things that makes me think about getting a ps3. I want whichever console will end up lasting longer. It's been a few years since each have been released and I feel a little late to get a 360. I've heard a rare few say that the 360 has pretty much reached it's limit....is this true? I definitely want something that will continue to stay good for at least another 2-3 years. The Blu-Ray thing is probably the argument I hear most for ps3, which doesn't interest me since I'm buying a console for pretty much nothing but gaming. The shooter genre which you like is evening out between the Xbox360 and PS3 however - consider the offerings in the shooter genre, which are subjective to you and also consider that much of the Library are PC/360 games so you should consider if you want to keep playing awesome PC games and if as an ex PC gamer you would be better served with an Xbox360. For the RPG genre - the Xbox360 has a huge lead at present, with the PC/360 ports it may never close. 7: What's your personal preference? ....Just curious
That's all I can think of for now. I've been reading random articles on both consoles for a few weeks now and the comments responding to them have been filled with nothing but fanboys bragging about their console as if they were getting paid to do it. Because of that, it's been hard to tell what's true and what isn't since people like to twist the facts so much =/ Any help would be greatly appreciated |
There you go. Look for the system with the most games you like! xD Thats the main thing now if you like both controllers.
Tease.
