Forums - Sales Discussion - Analyst - PS3 to see 10% GAIN in 2010, Wii60 to DECLINE! (Wii 20%, 360 5%)

Wii -- till 100 Million probably thanks to the vitality sensor & more momentum

DS -- obviously its dominance began with nintendogs, but I still think without its massive 3rd party it wouldn't have gone much beyond say GB (110 million I believe) sales

What do YOU think?

I don't know. I was just curious.

So essentially, they're just predicting a ps3/360 tie at 5.15 million and Wii at 8 million in America.  Sounds about right to me, but I'd predict the Wii more around 9 million.  PS3 should get some good boosts this year with the continued lower price point and major franchises releasing for the first time this gen---FF, GT, GoW.  Only thing that may throw a loop is any price cuts from MS.

I think that trying to predict exactly what the latter half of this year will look like is pointless, almost meaningless. It was thoguht that the end of 2009 would be the worst of times for the Wii. That's somehting we all thought, me included.

But Nintendo revealed a game that's breaking many sales records, and it was announced only five months before release.

What I'm saying is that I can't make a decent guess until E3 is come and gone.

Yes the Wii is going to decline 20% in the year that starts with a holiday boost from New SMB Wii, Wii Fit Plus, Wii Sports Resort, and a price cut, and later gets a new 3-D Mario, Metroid, and Motion+ Zelda, when compared to a year that started with a holiday boost from Animal Crossing and Wii Music.

In other news, I am about to eat the sun.

Does it taste good? Besides, it's very dark outside now. What have you done!

After seeing how well the analysts predicted this gen of consoles, I have a tough time taking anything they say serious.

Everytime i see one of these articles it reminds me of the 2006 gamespot april fools day article.
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6146958.html

It just shows how litte they know of what will happen in the future.

The article is golden. It's amazing how accurate it is.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Emma Clueless of Bogus Analysis reports that all PS3s Summer 2010 will overhead and not only produce YLOD, but also explode and shatter every single 360 and Wii in existence, causing the videogame industry to collapse to a market size smaller than the Crash of 1980s. The only consoles remaining will be Atari 2600 systems that will sell around 1 million annually.
