This was a game I wanted to like so badly. I'm a huge Level-5 fan and up until now, they had done no wrong.

I just couldn't get into it. I didn't expect much in terms of story, as per usual with the developer, but I was perfectly fine with that. Where their games had shined for me was the battle/customization system (Dark Cloud 2 is one of my favourite RPGs).

I know it may sound unfair, but I didn't think that the game had even one saving grace. And it really disappoints me that I was disappointed with it. I'd been looking forward to it for quite some time - as everyone in this thread likely has.

It's great to hear others are enjoying it, at least, but I'm just curious. Those of you who are Level-5 fans, is this a direction (gameplay-wise) you'd like them to take in future games? Like Dark Cloud 3 or some new IP? Or would you prefer something more akin to their previous system?

Did you play it all the way through?

The only real disappointment for me (aside from the voice overs) was the ending :P

Unicorns ARE real - They are just fat, grey and called Rhinos

No. About 6-8 hours, I'd say. Some online.

Playing the game through isn't really necessary for the criticisms that I have.

@pearljammer

I'm not a level 5 fan

but I played Rogue Galaxy, LIKED THIS much more than it

_________

Played online with jneul today, was really fun!

the online is great!

I thought Rogue Galaxy was their lowest point up until now, though I still enjoyed the battle system in it.

I'm a level 5 fan, played through DC1, 2, & Rogue Galaxy.

This game is kinda lacking in terms of battle system (I expected much better from Level 5). They seem to alter things to make it fit into online game... (horrible inventory management system, which kinda makes sense when you take online into account). Definitely not something that I like. The game is ok as an online... single player, not so much.

And I was expecting Level 5 to give a nice single player/offline game. This direction towards favoring compromised offline in favor of online component disappoints me, actually.
