Forums - Sony Discussion - IGN against PS3?!?!

This article isn't one of them, but they have had some questionable ones lately....they basically made it sound like FFF 13 was a failure becuase it only got 39/40 in Famitsu. Even the title "First Final Fantasy Review not so perfect".

I honestly don't see what's so bad about this article.

What is so bad is that in november the PS3 outsold xbox by 600 k. It was of the best month ever for PS3. And they post an article about how Xbox has sold more unit in november, without saying anywhere that it was NA only lol. For us aware of the numbers,  know that it is NA only, but anyone one else that would read that would be sure that Xbox is still selling more than PS3. This is biase and bad publicity.

It's NPD-- that's NA only so they really don't have to say it's NA only.

If you wouldnt know video game very well and read this article, would you think that it could be possible that PS3 outsold xbox by 600 K in november? Why post the succes of Xbox selling 100K more in NA and not post the success of PS3 selling 600 K more worlwide. I know video games myself and didnt even knew that NPD was NA only.

This post is proof that many people will be mislead by this article. How the hell am I supposed to assume PS3 outsold 360 by half a million if I just read an article titled: 360 Beat PS3 in Novermber?

  1. It's not IGN's fault people are ignorant to the fact what NPD is.  If you see an article and you see NPD and don't know what this is, look it up.
  2. Yes, heaven forbid people actually read an article and not just the title.

Seriously, this thread couldn't be more stupid.  It's a simple article with a quote from an MS exec talking about the 360.  I'm sure a similar one will appear soon enough talking about the PS3 and how well it did.  Will that mean IGN learned the error of their ways and move onto hating the PS3?

IGN was never pro-PS3. Until IGN has its own PSN section like they do with XBL, IGN will forever be more pro-360.

I certainly agree with your two points and that the thread title is an overexaggeration, but it never hurts to clarify, either.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

Yeah, I read this, too. I was kind of annoyed that this was posted, especially since I know PS3 won overall for November. But look at the IGN staff that wrote the column. Their from the 360 team of IGN. So actually, is it their fault for writing an article about this, or the Sony/PS3 team's fault for NOT writing an article about how Sony has been consistently beating 360 overall for the past how many months? It's not new news anymore though, so why do it i guess...

I do think IGN overall is biased toward 360 from different things I've seen, but I think their feelings towards PS3 are becoming more positive ever since the price drop...andddd all the ridiculous amounts of great games that have been and are soon releasing for PS3.

if u know ign a lot and watched most of their videos u shud know that some editors are 360 fannys and some r ps3 fannys lol

Wait hold up......did this guy actually make an unbias article...bias?

Damn...where do we get these people?

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!!!

IGN is an entire entity, not a single person. This article was written by the Xbox team right? So, the xbox team are a bunch of fanboys. WoW, thats a SHOCKER.

If the PS3 had won in NA, the PS3 team would have done the exact same and would be labeled as fanboys too right? WoW, That would have been a SHOCKER!

The entity of an ENTIRE website (unless its like Nintendo Power, Xbox Mag, Play Mag, etc) are not biased. They want the damn controversy so we will continue to go to their pages. They do not want one to win over another, thats bad for THEIR business. Unlike gamers who are fanboys, the sites/companies themselves only become biased when it makes them money. There is no loyalty (misplaced or not) its just about the money.

Point 2, Actually did you read the article? Because the article says the same as the title, which is Xbox selling more console in november.

Point 1, Here a quote from it: According to data released today by the NPD Group, which tracks game industry figures, the Xbox 360 had its best November on record last month. The system outsold the PlayStation 3 by more than 100,000 units, despite Sony's new ad campaign, price cut and slimmed-down look. --- Why would I search what is NPD if they say it. Normally you would think that you can trust the information when its coming from a media as big as IGN. It seems they omitted to precise that NPD actually tracks north american game industry figures instead saying that it tracks game industry figures. Am I suppose to suppose this was america only or what?

Another quote: And although the PlayStation 3 also had a great month, selling 710,400 units, Sony's platform didn't come close to Microsoft's.--- Oh, really, not close?

Also if you read the comments on IGN youll see that there is a lot of people that thinks its worlwide. So sure its misleading, when you have full of persons that think the same thing it must be misleading somewhere huh. I dont understand your agressivity, nobody said that Xbox suck or something. Only that this article was really bad and smell fanboy all over, and it shouldnt when your a journalist. The fact that IGN publish it means that they somewhat agree with the article. Title thread is IGN against PS3?!?!, because I was really surprise and interrogative on why they would publish something like that.

After reading the article once again, I really think that even the authors did think it was worlwide.

Yeah I agree with your last point. They wanted people to react that way. But its not really good journalism. I myself dont like when they publish this type of article one way or the other. Its really the first time I see something that bad there tho.
