Forums - Sales Discussion - Wal Mart+ Amazon $99 Xbox 360 deals today alone may sell 140K+ Xbox 360's!

@nightsurge

VGChartz and NPD may not show this in their numbers though, so nobody know what effect it will have.

Both do not track Walmart and VGChartz does not track Amazon either.

May have to wait until quarterly reports to find out what kind of effect it had.

Both don't "track" them because they can't get numbers.  But they both are included in the totals via estimation.

Ask ioi himself.  Walmart and Amazon sales are still factored into the equation.  Combined they likely make 25% or more of the US sales so to not include them would destroy the data completely.

I guess I forgot to correct this one point.

Yes, they will estimate, but I doubt ioi is going to try to figure out what the sales could have possibly done. He won't have any info for it.

He will probably estimate in the same manner most firms always do, which I believe is 25%.

Going by the boost so many think it guaranteed, your asking ioi to factor in Walmart and Amazon as possibly almost double what they normally do.

Think of what would happen if he ended up being completely off the mark.

I guess we will see though. I say he plays it safe.

Playing it safe wouldn't be so bad if he ends up being under. You wouldn't be able to blame anyone since Walmart doesn't give their info out.

Can we get some ioi in here?

XD what did the Sony profits have to do with sales numbers due to the Walmart and Amazon deals? Seriously, you could have left that out of the OP, to me, it does seem like you are trolling.
Anyway, I suppose it is possible a $100.00 360, I was tempted to pick up two of them myself and sell them on Ebay right before the holidays for $150.00.

Edit: I didn't feel like wading through the flames, so I missed those posts about people buying them and reselling them...guess I kinda helped make that point :

I know it's already been posted a few times but for that guy way back early who was questioning me why this didn't boost Arcade on Amazon sales...well it did now, #1

Looks like they sold all they had to because it says "in stock on Nov 10".

Wait a minute. You're telling me that a $200 dollar product purchased that yields a gift card for $100 dollars is equal to a $99 dollar product? I see why you own a 360.

well, yeah, you are basically buying a gift card for walmart, and a console for $99.
