what????? 28 weks later is way better than days. to me it is way more scary, realistic, and gruesome. also weeks gave me a sense that the world was over and that i was only person left along with the few survivors and it gave me a feeling of clausthrophobia. that movie rocked and it is so scary. best horror movie since the ring since nowadays horror movies are garbage. also my 3 favorite movie of the year so far.

I don't get how you get the feeling of being "the only person left" from 28 Weeks Later...because in this movie, you know that England was quarantined...that the rest of the world was fine.

In 28 Days Later...through the whole movie, the main character didn't know if the whole world was gone or if it was just England...they figured it out later...but I think the feeling of being the last few in the WORLD was a more desperate feeling.  Also, I enjoyed the cast of Days better, and Weeks was a bit too loud and action-y for my tastes.  That's partly because I think the theater I was in had the volume too high...my ears really did hurt during the loud parts.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I remember being so excited about the trailer for "28 days", and so disappointed when I saw the movie. But the first 15 minutes or so was great. I like the "last person left on earth" scenario. I remember one movie on that theme, can't remember it's name though..."...Earth" something. Not a lot of help, I guess.

the first 10-15 minutes were the best in a zombie movie ever, then the movie went downhill

28 Days Later is one of my favorite zombie movies...Weeks is definitely much lower on the list.

I'm not sure what my number 1 is though...I always come back to both Shaun of the Dead and Dawn of the Dead though...Shaun for its humor and Dawn for its classic zombie scenario done right.

Now I remember, it was The Quiet Earth! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089869/

A must!

I haven't seen The Quiet Earth but whenever I think of last man on Earth scenario I think of the movie The Omega Man based on the book I Am Legend, which I think has another movie based on it and starring Will Smith coming out in December.

Even though they are in the same series Days is a way different experience from Weeks, kinda like how Alien is completely different from Aliens.

Days explores how a handful of survivors would cope in a world lacking any kind of structure and the subsequent descent into chaos, ie the other survivors end up being more dangerous than the zombies. Weeks is the much more traditional zombie flick, though it does throw in a political statement or 2 to distinguish itself from the crowd. It takes itself much less seriously (zombie shredding helicopter scene anyone?) but is imo still a good film, not quite as good as it's predecessor but way different.

I'd def like to go see more film threads on this forum!

Yup Stranne I saw the Quiet Earth a long time ago. It isn't exactly a zombie film just a bunch of people who have gone insane who were already suicidal. It is a great movie but one which would be to slow for todays audiences and to scifi-y for the slow movie goiing audience.

Legend11 have you ever seen "The Last Man On Earth" with Vincent Price in the 60's. that was also based on "I am Legend". Very good movie one that inspired "The Omega Man" and "Night of the Living Dead". If you are in to books you should check out "The Last Man" by Mary Shelley. It is the oldest book that i can think of of its type and it is very similiar to "I Am Legend".
The original "Dawn of the Dead" still stands to me as the best in its genre.

28 Days later was OK. It was a decent film that was very derivative of films that come before but it was put together well and was given a fast pace that kept things moving.

I didn't mean that The Quiet Earth would be a zombie movie, rather a movie capturing that great "everybody just died and left me alone on the Earth" feeling I got from the first few minutes of 28 Days.

Am I the only one who finds that statement pretty funny?

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.
