The PS3 has something extremely similar to the 7800GTX I believe, and yes this is a fact. Though I'd be damned if I could site something offhand, and I'm too lazy to google. The 360 is very similar, so we could assume an equivelent GPU is being used. The 8800GT blows that card (7800) out of the water. They're both very old models though (3 years/8800, about 4 for the 7800).

The 9000's are pretty cheap now actually. Even some of the lower end GTX200's are pretty low. The Wii2 should easily beat out the current generation. The question is how far MS/Sony are gonna go.

Yes because they are comparable to a toned-down 7600gt if I recall correctly. Maybe with optimization it works out to being similar, but the Wii  2 has that same optimization at hand.

No it makes the PS3 look old. Remember Nintendo only uses last generation technology for their next Gen consoles. The only difference will be Nindi will suceed where Sony failed.  That being said I think this rumor is BS too. Nintendo isn't going to BD for security because BD was cracked back in 2007 it offers no more security than most other media now.  BD hasn't made the PS3 immune to modding and hacking nor has it attracted top sales figures either so I don't see why Nintendo would bother paying Sony royalities fees for nothing.

Theirs something called monopoly laws which prevent Sony from preventing competition from using BluRay. Sure they will get paid royaltees but chances are NextBox will have BluRay. Also I doubt Nintendo really gives a crap about BluRay have they ever tried to replicate the competitions formats? Sure the Optical Disk is alot like DVD but Nintendo doesn't care to follow the competition.

I say this is all a publicity stunt. We all know Wii2 is coming Christmas 2011 no sooner no later!

I don't see this happening for the reasons already stated. Why launch a new more costly machine when your current console is still selling like crazy? It just doesn't make sense.

Excuse me, Since when was the Nintendo 64 last generation technology. How about GameCube did it have last generation technology (Put ResidentEvil4 next to Halo) and tell me that Resident Evil was Nintendo 64 technology. Nintendo does a mixture of both, sure their handhelds have always been inferior to their home platforms but look at PSP it doesn't look anything like PS3 either.

Sorry man but you know that Bluray is not just Sony.  There is a Bluray Association this are the Bluray Disc Founders:

Matsushita, Pioneer, Phillips, Thomson, LG Electronics, Hitachi, Sharp, Samsung and Sony.

And the DVD had similar Founders one of them was Sony again. The DVD belongs to Sony as the Bluray. They are just a part of the whole.

Everybody can use Bluray everybody. Its not like Sony is able to deny someone the use of Bluray. And that was never their Intention.

Infact I think it would be good for Bluray if Nintendo uses it.

Nintendo was always the best when it comes to technology with the N64 first 64bit Console they just used the wrong format this time. And the GC was a advanced Console too.

And the WII would be more powerful if Nintendo would have a more successful precedessor Console. They made the WII because they didnt wanted to Risk too much money so they sold the Console without loss first time they did this.

The Wii would have been a lot more powerful if the GC would have been more succesful in terms of marketshare.

And I would be glad if they make an HD Console.  They can easily be twice as powerful as the PS3 and have Bluray and make money and be under 249. the PS3 uses pretty expensive XDR RAM and the Cell. If Nintendo put in a Triple/Quad Cpu and a 2008/2009 Gpu plus 1 Gig ram they would be still cheap in 2010.  I hope they make it a lot more powerful and release it in 2011 that would be perfect.
