Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Dead Space: Extraction sold 9,000 in the US last month, Divnich blames EA

spinnoff from a franchise on an other console.... why would it appeal to wii gamers? -> no brand appeal at all.

Rail shooters... I love them... but I have 3 already, i'm saving myself for RE:DC -> market saturated

no comercials.... they are casuals, let's not advertize and see if they even know the game exists...

Did every somehow miss the "The figure accounts for sales from September 29 to October 3." tidbit that I read? Five days. The game obviously won't sell millions upon millions in the next 4 weeks, but I'm sure it will do much better than what doomsayers are predicting.

By life end:

  • Wii- 100 million+
  • Xbox360- 35~40 million
  • PS3- 30 million
  • PSP- 30~32 million ------------- FAILURE
  • NDS- 85~90 million (Skeptical)  - FAILURE
  • NDS- 100 million+ (Optimistic) -- Success!

And btw, in Gamespot there was Dead space on background, and also in few gamer sites on Finland had it on around 1 week in front page ad.

Take my love, take my land..

EA should have released this game in the "dead" of summer when there was hardly anything noteworthy coming out for the Wii. Waiting till the end of September when other much more high profile games are being released, and coupled with the fact that there was ZERO advertising for the game except for a couple internet adds here and there, was a recipe for piss poor sales in the making.

Oh... and it's yet another on-rails shooter on a console that already has more on-rails shooters then every other console in existence.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

there was a lot of marketing online, but thats marketing targetd at core gamers who didnt want it because its on rails. all 4 Ps of marketing were wrong with this game

What does EA expect?

They alienated Dead Space fans by putting it on rails so of course they lose their customer base.  It's basically a new IP.

I guess everybody has forgotten the thread ages ago that was suggesting this game was being set up for a fall, the game was never going to sell.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

We had a massive background ad for it for 4 days so it couldn't have been that badly advertised!

Yea I almost forgot.

What an arrogant individual...he blames everyone except himself.. Myself as a consumer i got the game and can confidently state that its not a game but a wannabe space movie. Thats right you spend the MAJORITY of your "playtime" watching a damn B movie. Go back to the drawing board idiot....

Never saw 1 ad and those sales are terrible.
