The gap between 360 and PS3 worldwide total user-base is now 7.39M.   Roughly one million less in 5 weeks ;) , starting from the SLIM, and it will continue to drop and drop. The 360 is already cheaper than PS3, but cannot compete.  The 360 arcade costs 179 euro, the SLIM costs 299 euro, but MS cannot compete.

You say MS will do a price cut, so Sony and Nintendo will do as well.

You say Halo, Gears ? I say GT5, God of War3, Heavy Rain, MAG, FFXIII Versus, FFXIV, next project from Insomniac, The Last Guardian, Yakuza3 to the west and Yakuza4, etc, etc, so what ?

MS has a console for the short run, PS3 is for the long run, with a longer life-cycle.  MS are loosing now with a far cheaper console(the arcade costs 179 euro) and the gap continue to drop.  it was 8.2, 8.3M before the SLIM, now is 7.39M, in just 5 weeks!  MS sold 13.3M 360 in 2 years, Sony sold 19.1M PS3 in 2 years.  MS sold 23.76M 360 in 3 years, Sony already sold more than 25M, and they will do their 3rd year by 23th March 2010 in Europe     Sony sold with a higher average weekly worldwide selling-rate since both 360 and PS3 launched, and now PS3 is slapping the 360 in the face.  PS3 is very strong in all territory, while 360 slowing down everywhere, and dieing in Japan.  Famitsu said PS2 selling more than 360 in Japan now.  The only reason why MS sold more as total user-base is that 360 launched 1 year before in America and Japan, and nearly 1 year and half before in Europe.   Some people seem to forget this little detail.

Sales have been good for sony lately thanks to the slim (or "last throw of the dice" as i like to call it) but Microsoft still have plenty left in the tank in terms of price drops and appealing bundles ect.

I will explain to you way :  You call the SLIM Sony last trump card, when they just released a cheaper model, with a price now good for the mass.  and though PS3 SLIM is still more expensive than 360, Sony are now winning and selling a lot more, actually roughly one million better in 5 weeks, after the price cut.   360 is dieing in Japan, with PS2 selling as much or even better now.  360 slowing down in both America and Europe, though the Arcade costs only 179 euro, a lot cheaper than the SLIM.   Why?  waiting for excuses...PS3 one year ago was too expensive for the mass,most of all in a so bad economy, this is way 360 and Wii sold more(and 360 significantly more only in 2008 hi holiday season!). Now Sony released a cheaper console, still more expensive than 360, but with a better price for the mass, and you call it "Sony last trump card" ? Sorry mate if I tell you this, but you can only be one of these two things : 1) a fool, or 2) a complete fanboy. no offence, I hope you learn something.
