Well, at this point I think we're down to
"Were the D-pad and thumbstick as dramatic an advance in control type as motion controls?"
and
"Could they have changed gaming without consoles' power advancing as much at the same time, as happened in the Wii?"

I will certainly admit that, as a matter of fact, those consoles DID increase power quite a bit at the time those control innovations happened, so if that's all you're trying to say then I concede that ... but I think you're making implications I disagree with.

I think that both above questions are matters of opinion or, if they can be settled as points of fact, it is not practicable at this time on this simple forum to sufficiently separate fact from opinion.

That's my point, they did increase power, so it would be really hard to tell if those consoles would have been revolutionary if the graphics were less than competitors. I think we can agree that Mario was perhaps the biggest influence on the success of the NES, but in addition, the control style was very awesome. Just the fact that B came before A on the buttons was such a unique and cool idea.

We did learn this gen that being graphically better doesn't matter if you have a really good innovation, but I think it might be one of the only examples that has any value in this discussion. PS2 was also graphically inferior, and while some might call DVD an innovation, I think that it was more of an issue of the games selection that was appealing about the system.

Yeah, so deciding which controller was more influential it's tough to say.

But, :P I hope you will understand that I am capable of reason. I'm going to work harder to expressing my thoughts more clearly from now on.

We can't say they've lsot the core gamer until next year is over.
Games that are confirmed for next year:No More Heroes 2,Monster Hunter,The Grinder,Red Steel 2,Mario Galaxy 2,Metroid Other M(the grinder is the only 1 dat might not be in Q1)
Games are confirmed in development & might release next year:
Zelda Wii,Pikmin 3,Kid Icarus Wi,New Pokemon,COD:MW2 if reflex sells well
Then there's always the games dat are announced months b4 release.If all these still don't sell on the wii next year bcuz nobody buys core games as long as their on the wii anymore,then yeah,Nintendo SHOULD abandon the core as that would mean the core has abandoned them.
