Montana agreed with me earlier in the thread, so I let it slide when he said Tekken was one of the more casual fighting franchises. That's completely wrong. No conditions or reasons. It's just wrong, imho. I couldn't disagree more.

It's not really the "non-hype" I blame the PS3 fanboys for. Who can blame them for that, really? Playing up this game is, afterall, playing up a victory for Microsoft. Tekken has been a Sony related IP for a decade. I'm just stating an opinion about WHY the game isn't as hyped. I think it's silly to say that the 360 fans hyping the game make up for the fact that it's no longer PS3 exclusive.

We all know the treatment PS3 exclusive games get, and because that's so obvious, is the reason why my opinion is substanative. Quoting a bunch of examples of the largest multiplats this generation which came out when the debate was still raging over Wii vs HD consoles, and not 360 vs PS3 is cherrypicking. Exclusives on average are more hyped than Multiplats ON THIS FORUM because of the console war. It gets people excited to talk about the games that the people they hate might not get to play. Sure there are exceptions, like MW2....but imagine the hype for MW2, or the fallout....if the game was exclusive to the PS3, ON THIS FORUM(and explain why Uncharted 2, GT, and Forza are all equally or more hyped to this super god-like multiplat on this forum). This game isn't Final Fantasy or Grand Theft Auto. It's never gonna have that hype level. However, were it an exclusive on EITHER console, it would be hyped more than it currently is imo, and blaming the hype death on the fighting genre itself, or the game not being good, or late, is a cop-out. Make it exclusive again, and watch the hype meter rise.


ok so stating factual info for why fighters just arnt as big as they used to be is cop-out....but blaming a fanbase isnt..especially when its commin to 360 too??...I would love to see ur views on LP2..

Surprisingly, no. This time it was waron. Selnor's said it multiple times, though. He slowed down when it became multiplat, but didn't stop outright.

What would be the point of of hyping LP2 on this site...to many people don't like it becuase of the shaky port the ps3 got of the original...

There's not a lot of hype for Lost Planet 2 on this site because generally, Vgchartz is full of informed gamers. The original Lost Planet wasn't a good game, so people aren't going to be hyping the sequel.

cop-out....The 360 fanbase can spend there time hyping and reasuring us that it will be a great game considering were alittle iffy since are bad port

I thought it was good...And it's a million seller on Xbox 360...

And I was hyping the sequel..but to many people were dissmissing the game becuase ps3 got the short stick.... so no point in hyping...

I think we agree on the overall issue, but we're arguing the details. I'm blaming the multiplat change for this, not PS3 fans. I wouldn't hype a game that seemed a major coup for another console either. Also, I'm not saying "all" unhyped games are based on their position according to Sony. In my last post, I referred to ALL multiplats and ALL exclusives over all consoles, and their hype ratio. PS3 fans are more numerous here, so the hype levels reflect that.

However, I want to know one thing.

Why do people who nab games, but don't give a shit about the hype surrounding them, disgust you?

...and shit yea, I'm biased, but it seems strange that when defending Tekken, I always run into a lot of people who are biased towards the PS3 attempting to marginalize the game. The difference is, I actually like Tekken. Alot. They just see it as a betrayal, and a loss of an exclusive. They don't give a shit about the actual game. I find myself having to defend multiplats from PS3 fans very often. Even games like FFXIII, because there is a basic conception on that side of the fence that multiplats are inferior and unimportant, while on the 360 side of the fence, multiplats are our life blood. They just happen to be some of the best HD games this generation as well. I remember last Xmas, all people could talk about was Gears 2 and goddamn Resistance 2. Fallout 3 turned out to be 10 times better than both of them, but we could barely get a word in edgewise about that game, by comparison.

That's just on this massive gaming forum, mind, and most other gaming forums. Depending on the company(for instance, if just the mods were discussing such things, or any group of people with nothing to prove) the hype level for games would be more based upon their importance and potential rather than their platform.
