(1) Wizardry (the first one)
(2) Ultima I
(3) The Bard's Tale (the original)
...the first console one I played might be in the triple digits, but I've played a lot of them at this point.
triple digits? Do you mean you have played more than 100 RPG on PC before playing a console one?
Yup, pretty close. Maybe more. I didn't own a console until the GameCube came out -- I was a devoted PC gamer for eons. Now I have every console since that gen to the present, with the exception of an original XBox.
I'm still burning through my eBay PS2 RPG collection... egads there are a lot. Oh and I am experiencing console awesomeness, like Secret of Mana, and Breath of Fire 2 (playing right now on my Wii, of course), for the first time. Good times, for me, as an eons-old RPGer.
I feel lucky, because I don't imagine that console RPGer's would get the same joy out of playing old PC games, as I do out of old console games. If you're going to go back to the dark ages of gaming, you have to have a controller... at least that's my take. DOS emulator (or whatnot) and a keyboard is pretty harsh.
