The highest selling Ps3 game LTD in Japan so far is MGS4 at only 680,000!

I never realized how low the amount was in Japan.

 

But with that said, Final Fantasy XIII is exclusive to Ps3 in Japan. The first FF games every gen typically sell around 3 million copies in Japan. If FF does sell it's usual 2.5-3.0 million copies in Japan, that will be 4-5 times more than the second best selling Ps3 game in Japan.

We know the fanbase in Japan for FF is huge. Even the DEMO for FFXIII caused a spike in Ps3 sales. How many copies will FFXIII sell in Japan? How much of a spike will it cause in Ps3 hardware sold in Japan?

Japans not the same gaming market it use to be and with the price of the PS3 being as high as it is I'm only expecting sales around 500-700K but still easily surpassing MGS as the highest selling PS3 title in Japan for the coming weeks.

@Lit You expect FF to sell 1/5th the amount it usually does in Japan?

I highly doubt it. Want to make a bet? I guarantee I will win :)




Do your research before making predictions, pleeeeeeassseee... MGS4 only sold a little bit less than the previous MGS games in Japan.
MGS4 did .68 while the other MGS games did about .80..... Not that much of a difference.

Final Fantasy is much much bigger than MGS in Japan.

Only one expects it to sell so low. Others are mostly saying its not going to sell as well as FF VII and FF X, which I agree.

It wont sell as good as FFVII or FFX, but it will still sell around 2.0-2.8 million in Japan.

Keep in mind there's a very good chance of Ps3Slim/Price cut coming right before FFXIII comes out.

In FF7 and FF10, 40% of the PS1 and PS2 install base bought the game first week (2 mil / 5 mil approximately). FF 13 easily has a shot at 1.5 mil when it comes out.

Look at the number of 360 owners that got Halo 3 the first week in USA. Expect a similar attach rate for PS3 Japanese users.
