Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Are Square-Enix going to show Wii stronger support?

@ samus

But the consoles that main DQ appear are usually after a Final Fantasy game or two lands on the respective platform

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

I have no idea what the hell SE is thinking when it comes to their negligible Wii support. Why make cheap to develop games for a system with a massive Japanese install base when you can make expensive to develop games for a pitifully small xbox userbase... and then port it to a slightly less pitiful PS3 userbase...

DS and PSP successes have shown that wildly different platforms can have the same kind of success. All you need is a decent sized userbase..

Why make murals and do oil panting when you could make more money drawing naked japanese anime characters?

I would like to say that Square Enix seems to view the consoles as a medium and games as their art.  They choose the medium that they feel will best let them express their art.  I would really like to say that with confidence however I think it's more likely that they threw too much into Final Fantasy XIII and its engine to pull back so they're trying to make the platforms more attractive with more offerings (while still making bank on the DS/PSP).  If they can draw their fanbase to the HD consoles then Final Fantasy XIII will sell well.  However if they draw their fanbase to the Wii with various titles and then release FF13 on the HD twins guess what happens.

I´m thinking that Square-Enix will support Wii stronger in the future with some big softwaretitles. Maybe Kingdom Hearts 3 or another big title? Most likely a Dragon Quest remake, Dragon Quest VII maybe since that one still hasn´t had a remake and a Wii version could improve on the PS1 original?

My reason for being so optimistic about S-E and Wii is that they have choosen to put their very biggest franchise on Wii (Dragon Quest) and so far their support for the platform has been very small. Shouldn´t S-E want to support the platform they have chosen to put a main Dragon Quest on with bigger titles? I know that they have done this with every other platform that has had major Dragon Quest titles, NES, SNES, PS1, PS2 and NDS have all had Dragon Quest remakes, Final Fantasy titles, Kingdom Hearts, Chrono Trigger and so on. At the very least we should expect a Dragon Quest remake and perhaps Dragon Quest Swords 2 (not so big but worth mentioning) on Wii.

What do you think, will Square-Enix announce some major titles on Wii helping push hardware for the console in the wait for Dragon Quest X?

There biggest franchis? Their biggest franchise is Final Fantasy not DragonQUest

Well SE is onbviously giving te Wii some great support. But wouldn't it be stupid for SE to say:"please buy a PS3/360 to play Final Fantasy XIII/Versus XIII/XIV, and after that please buy a Wii for all our other games.

Imo it's stupid that SE is making its 2 biggest franchises for different platforms. Both games will loose sales that way.

Square Enix hasn't given much new support to the HD consoles, but they have been giving new support to the PSP, DS, and Wii of late.

The Dragon Quest franchise and its spinoffs sell more than Final Fantasy and its spinoffs.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I don't get it either. You are in the industry to make money.
