Forums - Website Topics - Frustration with Site - Brett Please Read

I'm just a average general user that happens to also be a PS3 owner.

I've been using this site for quite a while with not much need to post as I've been generally happy with the site.

BUT.

The recent changes have pretty much made it so that I don't even want to come to the site anymore. I have no problem with you wanting to make the site your primary source of income and to innovate it with the changes. But.. The recent changes have made this site pretty much more of a hassle then enjoyable experience. There are two main issues.. Although I could name more, the others are more opinion/preference then functionality.

  • Advertisements have getting worse and worse over a long timeframe. I understand it's a source of income, but when you use a advert company that allows IE hyjacks and tricks people in paying for false advertisement. I loose a lot of respect.
    • First there was a string adverts that tried to install IE hijacks, thankfully Advast caught them and blocked the installs for me.
    • Now there is a popup that completely disables the site unless you pay some random unrelated site a VIP fee?
    • And there is a bottom up popup that completely distorts the website to an unstable state.
  • New design. Again, I don't mind change. But I think it's a little overboard this time and doesn't take any care to compatibility.
    • The new site no longer works with the PS3 web browser. And the parts that do take forever to load due to the overly complexity of it.
    • The new site even has issues with the latest IE browser.

I'm sure I will get flamed by the loyal fans, but if you (Brett) wants this to be your bread and butter, you have to understand that your site needs to feel inviting and easy to use to the general public. A overly complex site that hijacks PCs and scams people out of money seems to me to be bad practice that will turn more users away (like me) then what you gain on bad adverts.

I used to recommend your site to everyone. But now I tell everyone not to go here anymore until things change.

You're kidding, right...

I think you may find more success with e-mailing TalonMan or ioi. Here are the e-mails. You can also message them using the VGChartz private messaging service, or pay for VGC IM and try to talk to them directly about your concerns.

Here's Brett's e-mail

And here's Keith's.

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?

Actually, I would totally agree with topic creater. His statements are very true and very understandable, this site has become a hassle to use with all the new adverts.

He wont listen to you. He didnt listen to everyone who said 2.0 was garbage when it launched. The way he and other mods/admins see it is if you dont like it leave since for everyone person that leave 10 new come or some bullshit like that.

2.0 is fail like crazy. Only reason Im still on the site is cool community and forums. Front page is cluttered fuck, news isnt news, and its heavy on resources and ugly as shit.

Btw you get banned for saying you dont like the site. Would not be surprised if this post gets me a ban.

Goodbye

I've had problems with the glitching and advertising scams, but I wouldn't say the site isn't hard to access...or bad.

I agree completely, and I just can't understand why the new site isn't W3C compatible?

At least if the front page was clean and not so clogged up I could live with the bloatedness of the rest of it.

Also, for the ads, use adblocker on Firefox. I normally would never use adblocker because it hurts websites, but the ads here have made me use it.

If any admins or mods think any of our opinions are unreasonable then they shouldn't be in a management position - afterall an opinion is just an opinion.

To anyone that says that I created a account just to post this, try looking at my profile. You fail. I creatd this account almost a year ago.. As mentioned, I loved this site, but work pretty much keeps me from being an active member.

I may be in the minorty here, I don't know.. But try looking at the posts lately and take off your biased glasses. The latest trends can not be good for Brett even if he or others do not realise it. I refuse to recommend a site to friends that installs malware and scams money out of them.

@John

These adds were added Friday i believe. And I believe that ioi works on this site during the week. So wait a couple of days
