Elites share the exact same manufacturing defects as the earlier models. There's reports that even the 65nm chip motherboards (in some or all of the Halo 3 edition 360's) might have the "x-clamp" issue as well....

I must have missed that, could you give a link to the 100% failure rate that Microsoft confirmed.  Thanks.

so have the 65nm 360's started to hit the market yet? i really hope it solves the problem. cuz i am not gonna buy a 360 until they stop breaking and the price drops, but they are finally getting some great games on that system so i want it.

Hold on, I thought every 360 has retroactively been given a 3 year warranty? Am I mistaken? Why did he buy a new one?

I bought my 360 used and its about a year and a half old and still running good.

THREE of my friends bought 360's because of me (Two bought units around a year old, and one just bought one for Halo 3) so I'm gonna be pissed if any of them have something go wrong since they're all not tech savvy.

Why would you want consumer apathy and ignorance let anyone survive?  Do you not think that those who release poor products should be punished in the marketplace?

you have a 3 years warranty even with your old unit , if it died by the so called "read ring of death" (RRoD) .. if it's a different problem ,then it's only the 1 year warranty ,yea


as for your current problems ... as far as I know MS advises people to keep the 360 until it breaks and contact them then , because it's easier to analyze the problem ,if the console is dead (or sth. like that)
I think they have enough to do with the units that aren't working anymore to bother with units that are still working ,but show strange behavior.
