Microsofts new console will launch around the same time Sony's launches. The 360 however will stay with the PS3 until it dies.

CRT TVs last way longer. If you bought a plasma or LCD I hope you bought an extended warranty for it. |
My 32" LCD HDTV is going strong for 3 years now. Will be upgrading in about 3-4 months to a 47" LCD HDTV. Not 3D. And you may be right, it could be even longer than 4 years before 3D capable TV's are common, I was just saying that if that is indeed the technology they are waiting for, then the "NextBox" isn't going to be coming out anytime soon.
Also, NJ5, I do not know what basis the 1Up report had, but it was my understanding that 1UP simply speculated entirely on Shane Kim's statement while this new article claims to have some inside information and cites their past achievements at getting the news on other important developments before others.
^Nice well good luck to your LCD. What brand is it? I am not even sure which brands are the best (would need to check out Consumer Reports on that). I heard Samsung has decent reliability / quality. Hopefully, they have improved the quality or will over time. My grandma had an early Samsung LCD and the color wheel went out in like 3 years. I think they charged her like 150-250 for that repair since she didn't have it covered under warranty anymore. One of my sister had problems with her but luckily she had it under warranty (think it had problems two times).

Yeah, it would be a great move to say "Yes, we are releasing a new Xbox next year, so stop buying 360s since the new stuff is just around the corner".
True 3D displays would be the single most incredible tech upgrade in gaming history.
Im looking forward to this fantastic technology so damn much.
If X720 implements 3D, it will easily win next gen. Especially if it has the best motion tech as well with Natal. A new record with over 150 million consoles sold in a gen.

I agree, this gen hasn't even really taken off yet and everyone is so ready for the next gen.
