Forums - Sales Discussion - Wii's abysmal sales may lead The Grinder and Gladiator AD hit other console

If the Grinder was on the HD Consoles.. I'm sure PS3 owners would buy it.. as a poorman's L4D..

Pixel Art can be fun.

You took some real liberties with the thread title there, didn't ya?

I wonder if anyone thinks the game will sell pass 500,000 units

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true

This thread is libel, Wii's sales are amazing, I call suit

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

if the Wii has 'abysmal' sales then what the hell are the PS3 and 360 doing?

This started because the interviewer at the end asked a stupid question.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Madworld was in fact horrid. The hype this game got because it was an M rated game on Wii- I find disturbing. It had Gamecube graphics, cheesy one liners', braindead gameplay and Zero charm.

Let's not base our assumptions on how core Wii games can sell based on Madworld and a "gimped" CoD.

If the sales of the wii is like a flee than the sales of the Ps3 and 360 is selling like alge. lol
but this post is made because of the thread title

Macross, a few things. First you use COD:WaW as a point to prove your point, when its sold 1.5 mil+ thus far on the Wii. Anyone selling that much is a solid success, as they would be making 3 times their development investment. Simple logic prevails that Activision was very happy with the profit made from COD:WaW on the Wii

Secondly, you use the debunked, old statement that 3rd party games don't sell on the Wii, when there's been many that have sold well, including new IPs.

Yet, lets take Madworld as an example, since its a 3rd party IP that failed. Why did it fail? Let's review

- M Rating limits audience. We can agree that the Wii is family oriented. Even "core gamer" dads wont buy M games, because they're afraid little Bobby might get their hands on it while they're at work. Responsible gamer parents don't bring M rated games into their house.

- Experimental graphics. The only thing that saved Zelda: Wind Waker from being a flop was the fact that it was a Zelda game. Otherwise, with the cel shading they used, it wouldn't have been widely accepted. Gamers have certain qualities they look for in a game. A relatively colorless game doesn't appeal to many

- Abysmal story. The concept behind Madworld pretty much is the recipie used for Smash TV with 2 cups of SUCK added into it.

So at the end of the day, you have a repetitive, uber-sadistic, bland colored violence fest. Had it been in color, this game would have sold much better. Though it was close to the limit for extreme gaming from the ESRB.
