Forums - Gaming Discussion - What was the first game you completely dominated?

Not the first game you played, or owned, or your first favorite...

But what's the first game that you utterly mastered to the point where your friends would refuse to play it with you?

The first single player game I mastered was Super Mario Bros.  My friends wouldn't want to play that game with me because my turn would last "the whole game long."  I'd say "come on, I'll let you be player 1!" but they still wouldn't, because they knew that as soon as they died once they'd have to watch me pass the whole game again.

The first competitive game I completely dominated was Mortal Kombat II.  My friends always gave me competition in Street Fighter and other fighters, but MKII was mine.  I picked it up the day it came out at Toys R Us, and got a strategy guide, and quickly memorized every move, every fatality, and all of Shang Tsung's morphs.  I was the jerkface always playing as Shang Tsung and morphing into every single character.  Then nobody wanted to play it with me anymore.

Mine was also Super Mario Bros. The problem is easily remedied with Super Mario All Stars though.

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy

I can't say with 100% certainty, but I'm pretty sure that my first single-player domination was Super Mario 64.

Multiplayer ... Well, it's hard. Nowadays, I do that with pretty much any fighting game, as well as some other multiplayer-things ... I think the first one I really dominated in multiplayer was Mario Kart 64.

I gamed a lot before the N64, but I think the N64 was when I first really found my own.

Goldeneye I suppose.... At least almost mastered, I could obliterate my friends, and complete every 1-player level except that damn Train on 00 Agent.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

NBA Jam on the Sega Mega Drive.
Became very good at pushing people lol.

The level that you start in the elevator on 00 agent is even harder.  It made me want to smash my television.
