Chrono Trigger, or FF 4 on DS is a Win/win. I beat FF4 on SNES when I was 10 years old I don't think you'll have any trouble.

Shit man you have some of the best gaming you'll ever play ahead of you.

I can tell you where NOT to start...

3, 9 [Hope I'm not killed for this], 10-2, and maybe 12.

EDIT: They're all playable games, nothing truly wrong with them. i just don't don't think these 4 are good places to start. Especially X-2 since it's a sequal...

Start with FFVI Advance and FFIX. Wal-Mart has a lot of copies of FFVI and V advance where I live. Final Fantasy IV DS is amazing but very difficult.

FF 5 aint that great. It introduced the class system but it has no story at all. Look I know you and I aren't hommies but I'm hooking you up with some good advice that you just didn't take. Isn't it ironic?

Every FF game is completely different from one another they do not follow on from each in storyline.

FF4 is crap? Super fail. You got a DS? FF 4 is the best game on DS. Great sotry, grat music, timeless classic with a good transition to 3d.

Also don't play FF 6 on GBA the music is gimped. And don't get it for PS either the loading ruins it. I just picked up FF 12 and it is Solid so far.

 

FF6/7/4 are easily the best in the series. Everything else doesn't have the magic. Is FF3 available in the Wii store? I don't have my Wii hooked up to the net so I don't know. FF3 for supernintendo is actually FF6.

best game on the DS? sorry... but I think that you don't know a lot of games in the DS, and  you also don't know a lot of RPGs in the DS.

FF IV is a great game, I agree, but it is veeeeery boring, only who focuses in the story will play this game for a long time. The FF III is more simple in the graphics, story, etc, but it is more fun, maybe because of the great charism in the characters, I don't know. The "Final Fantasy crystal chronicles: rings of fate" is strange, but has a better (and sad) story than the FF IV. Another great RPG for the DS is Soma Bringer, i admit, i played this game in an emulator, but it is because the game is only in japanese, and in the internet you can find a translated version. For me, Soma bringer is the best RPG in the DS so far, the story in this game is..... oh dude! (haha xD, sorry) the story is brillant, the class system, the stat points system (str, agi, int, etc), the skill system, the bosses, the mini bosses, the songs... everything in this game is brillant.

I am sad that the game finished and I played in an emulator with a fan translation, but I will buy the game if it come to the West. And also has Sands of Destruction (this game is coming), Nostalgia (is coming this year), and other RPG games (for the DS) better than any FF in the DS.
