Forums - Nintendo Discussion - New Wii Control Feature?

Has anyone else seen the new Zack & Wiki preview?

Check out the end the little girl seems to use the controller like a flute... but they put this huge black pirate flag over her hands so you can't see exactly whats going on... Weird...

The On Screen directions look like it's instructing you to blow on the speaker. Pretty cool

weird...something is definitely going on there...but it doesn't really look like she's blowing..something is definitely being hidden there.

I saw an article a few months back that showed that the Wiimote might have mic already built in, just not in use. I will have to see if I can find it again.

I think that's a feature that is built into the Wiimote but hasn't been used before but I could be mistaken. Reminds me of the DS mic blowing stuff.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

I have a pic of the supposed mic.

The red squre on the right pic. The bigger one.

Either that or they just don't want to give away the button press sequence?

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

That can't be a mic...can it? I thought it was an audio translator chip...as in, the capability for a mic to be plugged into the Wiimote, not an actual mic in the Wiimote.

yeah i remember something about it, but i remember it being stated more as some kind of voice recognition chip.... some guys took apart a remote to find it. i'm sure it wasn't an actual mic though, probably something put in to be used for future plug-in microphones. edit: what ben said^

Its my understanding that any speaker can be used as a microphone with the right setup. Perhaps the internal wii remote speaker was set up to function as a mic from the beginning, but never utilized.
