We're defining "system seller" as a game which provokes the consumer to buy a game right , if we're not specifying any specific quantaties then i'm certain that God Of War III will be a system seller of sorts , maybe not a very big one but people will buy a PS3 purely because of god of war.

There are some reasons why God of War might sell systems.

1.Fans of the God Of War might series might feel it's the right time to jump on to the PS3 because of god of war.
2.Sony will most likely heavily market & promote the god of war franchise.
3.God Of War will most likely be bundled at the same cost of a non-bundled PS3 , this will be an incentive also.

But there's also some reasons why God of War might not sell systems.

As the generation progresses the libary of games becomes larger and more diverse, this makes it harder for individual games to have a substantial impact , the obvious exceptions to this is games with massive brand name in relativley niche genre ( Metal Gear Solid 4 , Gran Turismo 5 ) , they offer incentive as individual games because there's not alot like them the market that can offer a similar game experience.

I perdict 88% on Gamerankings, 1 million copies first week and 3.3 million lifetime sales.

fanboys of this series think that GOw3 will be a system seller everyone eles - not so much(especially since there is already plenty similar games on ps360 and few new will come before gow3 as well).

GOW3 best game in it's genre? keep dreaming - but hey let's assume that somebody was on crack and saw the future. probably most hyped series, but it's not the best one not even close.

 But I think Hack'n slash genre will be punished in reviews this gen, it's honestly becoming an old fashioned genre. Remember that some other huge franchises have been punished this gen, for example Resident Evil went from 95% RE4 to 86% RE5.

Because it rocks, thats why...... GoW 2 was released on a "dying last gen" console = lower sales.
I think GoW III will do 3 million. A lot of people bought PS3s to play MGS4 because the PS2 and PS1 games were epic. A lot of people will buy PS3s to play GoW III because the last gen sequels were immensely popular, especially in America. Oh and VGchartz don't have others data for GoW 1 and 2.(Probably undertracked)

God of war isn't just a hack and slash game. It is VERY popular...probably the highest selling Action/Hack and Slash game last gen which was critically acclaimed.
God of War 3 will have 90+ on game rankings.

Why do so many people assume everyone assumes GoW3 will be a system seller..

like seriously since I've been here I've seen about 3 people claim its a system seller and over 40 topics and posts telling people it won't be a system seller..


No one is saying it will move buckets of HW expect people who try and mock it..

I don't normally call people on their comments I usually just ignore semi-trolling posts but I would like for you to provide any post from any well known and respected GOW fan or Sony fan or any video game fan for that matter that said GOW III will sell shit load of HW
