"u think that the 60gb ps3's are more reliable than the newer versions of the 360's". I know this queary was not directed at me, but hell yes. Do even a modicum of research into E-74 errors, and you will see the disparity between the PS3 and 360 failure rates is still in full effect. There's a new-ish article about the rise of E-74 over at Joystiq.

Speculate much?  I can speculate too!  I have heard dozens of stories on here about blu-ray player failures so it goes both ways.  Deffinately more blu-ray deaths than E-74 ones, atleast from what I can remember.

Both are relatively reliable so I don't know why we have to go down this street again.  Jeez.

You forgot to mention you paid 50$ for xbox live year membership.

PS: why didnt you just use the same HDD for the 360?

360 has proprietary HDDs. You need to pay M$ some outrageous prices

man, that blows. Too bad your deal didn't go in reverse, or you wouldn't have had to pay for another HDD.

What is your power supply?

Awesome, now go get Netflix.

dude, you are saying you bought a 360 arcade that came with kung fu panda and indiana jones for $199. But the thing is Arcade comes with Sega Tennis. And then you Said you sold those two games back to walmart, problem there is that the games come in one case and if I remember correctly there is no barcode on that case. Something just doesn't fit.

^this. Care to clarify, BHR-3?

Otherwise, my initial reaction to reading the OP was: "Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!" You're one of the last people on VGChartz I figured would make the switch.

The 2 games do appear to come in seperate cases, but they do not come with the arcade. If he did get the games and was able to get some idiot at wal-mart to give him store credit then great for him. Pretty sure most bundles games come with no barcode or a big not for resale emblem on them though.

Nope they come in one case.  My friend has it that's why I can confirm.

Here's I think what the case looks like: http://www.covergalaxy.com/forum/attachments/microsoft-xbox-360/5901d1228591122-kung-fu-panda-lego-indiana-jones-combo-ntsc-u-cover-kungfu_indiana_combo_ntsc_u.jpg

Are you for real? Speculation? Yeah, there's no hard data or any information to even make a supposition. I'm sure the E-74 article and all the well documented problems with the 360 hardware is mearly conjecture, to say nothing for RROD. Although I am shocked that the gaming press, and gamers themselves, haven't latched onto the fact that you've read about DOZENS of stories about failing Blu-Ray players. On top of all that, the qeustion was posed, so I answered. If you believe "both are fairly reliable", you must be ignorant.

So let me get this, you have absolutely no proof the E-74 error is any worse than Blu-ray failures and you call me an idiot?  Quit talking out of your ass.  There is not enough documentation either way and you know it.

If you were truly religious you'd realize God broke your PS3 because he wanted you to get out and help his children not waste your life playing games. Now he'll have to give you the RROD, when he does take the hint and sell your toys give the money to the needy and join the seminary. What would Jesus do, debate the merits of of different game consoles or give that money to people who are having a hard time just existing?

Thread inevitable turns into a Sony defence thread the normal candidates are all present.

RANT Initiated...

Good luck with your RROD - Obviously the fact he has not purchased a model that suffers serious RROD issues should never get in the way of a good story.

HDD - My console can use any drive argument. The fact he got his particularly cheap and that second hand and even new drives can be purchased at reasonable prices again should not detract form the fact he paid a reasonable price and is in fact left with a drive he has no use for.

What about Xbox live PSN is free - I did not see anywhere that he said he was playing online at all so for all I know he is using his free Silver service. That said most 360 users appear willing to pay for the service and I am guessing they feel it provides a good service, looking at his line up I suspect he will be a gold member before long.

I see nothing wrong with any of these statements what annoys me is most of them are done in a snidey manor or in a smart alec way.

RROD - Yes the 360 did have a reliability issue, is it resolved. Possibly but it certainly is not an epidemic in the newer models. If anybody buying a new 360 is given the RROD treatment I think that person is being unfair to the console. If that person is buying one of the older models then I think that then becomes sound advice coupled with the reassurance that they have some recourse if the console is less than 3 years old.

HDD - It is true the 360 does have propriatery HDD it is also true that not all console users even need a drive at all. This again needs to be balanced against a user buying an Arcade today and in 6 months deciding that he could do with a HDD and buying one later. It is in fact a strength of the console albeit with a higher than I would like price tag for that choice.

Gold Membership is $50 dollars PSN is free to play online - You know what I am not even going to argue that one because it is not really apples for apples. Some say the live service provides a better platform for multiplayer gaming others say it is not worth the $50. I hail from a PC platform so I am not a big fan of paying for my game time, personally I want to see more for my money and would like to see MS host dedicated servers because as good as the service is once they guy hosting the game wants to go to bed you have to as well. That is well annoying.
