Sounds like the Radiata stories battle system(If I got it right). If it is like that but cooler and with new things it will be great. If its like like FF12 I wont mind either. But it doesnt sound like it, the chains in ff12 where gained by killing monsters of the same type, nothing to do with chaining moves in a combo.

You chain up to 3 moves into a combo (later in the game up to 5) Then depending on the pattern the combo is animated differently and the actual effect (damage) of a combo probably also differs.
But it has been known for months. What is not known, but rumoured, is that you cant directly move your characters in battle (like you could in FFXII)

i want it to be EXACTLY like ffx-2 battle system minus the dress spheres.
ffx-2 system is sooo nice and fluid.
