Forums - Sales Discussion - Madworld Vs. No More Heroes sales thread

Madworld is coming. It's violent, it's awesome, and it's getting a lot of comparisons to No More Heroes. And while the two game s clearly share some style and gameplay aspects, I think the game is in another league all together when it comes to sales. But I still think it might be interesting to compare the sales of the two games to see which comes out on top. Currently, No More Heroes sales are sitting at .39 million. Madworld is definitely going to beat one million in sales, but that will come later.

In the mean time, since it isn't out yet, lets look at NMH's original sales. The game had a scattered release date.

So there's a 72 thousand opening weekend. Madworld most likely won't muster any Japanese sales, so will it have a shot at NMH's opening? We'll see soon enough. I'll update this thread as it goes.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

when was it released? cos if NMH hit 35k first week in america madworld could hit 50k

nintendo fanboy, but the good kind

proud soldier of nintopia

It was released on Wednesday IIRC (Madworld)

Interesting. Well Madworld isn't releasing in Japan so your can scratch that off the list. It's also not releasing in Germany.

But despite this I still think Madworld will beat No More Heroes. It's gotten better scores, more press and the wii's install base is bigger. It might not get 1 million though.

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

I still need to get No More Heroes.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

I've watched Madworld very closely on Amazon (which I've found to be more reliable than people here believe) and saw it go from the top 10 briefly, then hang around in the 20's for a couple days, and now it's dropped off to the 70's.

Other games that follow a similar pattern usually open with ~20k or so NA sales. My prediction for madworld is 24k NA.

Games that crack 1m will typically stay in Amazon's top 20 for 4-5 months straight. Madworld has no chance of this. If it breaks 400k I'll be surprised.

I found NMH to be a more creative game, and I can't wait for the sequel.

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)
PC: 10^9
Wii: 10^8

A lot of people said that about Cod: WaW. Now look where that is.

I think that most of the people that bought NMH are people that follow games on the net, and read reviews. I think the same audience will buy madworld, but a much larger chunk of it will because the reviews are much stronger. I say madworld could beat it first week with sales of 75-80k WW. Then I think it will drop to about 30k a week, and stay consistent for a long while. I think it should total out around double what no more heroes did. The word of mouth should keep it kicking for a while. 1 million would be nice but I'm not sure if I would predict it passing that mark.

Support good third party games on wii. Buy games like house of the dead overkill, de blob, madworld, the conduit and boom blox.

To be honest, if the game can do 300k in just America, I'll be glad.
