Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Branching Quick Time Events in Zelda Wii

They work in some games. Zelda is not one of them. MadWorld is though.

NO. QTE events are stupid. I hate them in God of War because all my attention is focused on the symbol that pops up in the middle so I can make sure I hit it correctly. I miss what's going on in the background.

Indeed, quick time events events are indeed stupid! I mean how redundant can it get! :P

I do agree with you about GoW, I always have to focus so much on the QTE events that I can't really tell what's going on in the background. It was horrible while playing that huge boss towards the end of GoW2 because I could faintly see Kratos doing some badass moves in the background, but thanks to having to focus so much on the QTE events, I couldn't tell what was actually happening.

>_>

In NMH, I'd say it was more context sensitive actions than quick time events...

They are motion control quick-time events. The exact same thing as MadWorld.

Eh, the "counter" ability from Wind Waker was more or less a QTE, and that was pretty awesome, although there is a difference, i suppose, between QTE and Context Sensitive Action (hereby to be called CSA, i declare)

I would like a lot more context-sensitive moves in Zelda Wii, if that's what they meant, but no QTE's

Ah... I see the difference.

yeah QTE is when you mash buttons during a cutscene.... CSA is when you cause the cutscene to happen

So grabbing a zombie and pulling them apart in God of War is a CSA rather than a QTE? Same with O-killing minotaurs.

Makes sense.

I hate QTEs. They do all the cool stuff for you when you press one button. In KH I thought they were cool as you can still do flashy stuff without them, but in Zelda it's a big no no.

I'm going to look at your collection here...

...

Your only familiarity with QTEs comes from Kingdom Hearts, I take it.

Some stuff in Zelda too which I didn't like a whole lot (really in TP though).

You mean like the fight with Morpheel? I think that would qualify as a context sensitive action, since it's not in reaction to a cutscene and there's no particular timing involved.

@ OP - why not have them in GoW, and we can keep Zelda combat QTE free??
