Forums - Sales Discussion - Killzone 2 beats Halo Wars in UK.

I hope I got my predictions close for Halo Wars. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm way low or high.

Interesting that the ps3 version of SF dropped below the 360 version.

Why is this? Isn't the UK a more pro 360 country similiar to the US? I was actually suprise that the PS3 version topped it last week, was there a precedent when Soul Calibur IV came out?

Actually no. They are pro Japan. I go there every year...and they f'n can't stand anything we do unless we attach it to their greatness. There are cool peeps in the Uk though.

And I live here every day... where the hell did you did this up from? the UK isnt in the slightest pro Japan...

The console numbers are ~3.5 mil 360 and ~2 mil ps3 in the UK.  So games sales should be biased towards 360.

Edit: Figured out why they might not be.  The pound has taken a beating against the euro so there is probably a hefty chunk of online store orders going to continental Europe due to the exchange rate.  Not sure if that is enough to skew things that badly though.

It would of been sad if Killzone 2 a FPS did not outsell Halo Wars which is an RTS.
FPS are considerably more popular than RTS games.

By the same token,

"It would have been sad if Halo Wars, a Halo-branded game, did not outsell Killzone 2, which is not a Halo FPS.

Halo games are considerably more popular than non-Halo FPSs."

I could have sworn that I saw someone that said these exact words "Watch a console RTS outsell sony's biggest FPS" I wonder what happen to that someone...

There were lot more than one person wanting this to happen :)

Its early days yet. Don't extrapolate this one country to the rest of the world. Halo wars should do significantly better in america. Although I still think killzone 2 will have the greater first week.

But as games they really aren't that comparable.

Wow, nice.

Although I'm surprised that MGS4 wasn't #1 all formats...

Hmm Halo Wars.

ok Lets just say it does exactly 17.6% of Halo 3's First Week in Europe (908,192)

That Puts it at 159,841 Units.

Not too shabby, it will have better legs than Halo 3. should reach 1m in europe

Really? An RTS will have better legs than a shooter?

It probably won't be in the top five next week...it'll be the very definition of frontloaded.

I actually thought Halo Wars > Killzone 2 first week. I could be wrong, though America is Halo land.

im glad people actualy know their games. good for UK for not being stupid and rushing out to get halo wars because it has halo written on it. which is probably what americans are going to do! also it was obvious killzone 2 was gonna be a huge seller in europe. it has been on top of the pre order charts for like 2 months now and the shops are really hyping it up. i wonder why sony aint said shit about the sales yet.

I am looking forward to seeing how much both Killzone 2 and Halo Wars sold in their first weeks worldwide. Halo Wars debuts in US on 3rd March. Have to wait until next week to see how Halo Wars sold in comparison to Killzone 2 for their first week.

alot of people were saying halo would outsell killzone 2 because of the name and the 360 has a 1 million install base advantage in UK but obviously xbots will change their tone now to something else.
