Forums - General Discussion - Anyone giving up gaming for lent?

I am. I also will probably not go to this site anymore either after today becuase I otherwise I will feel like playing games.

I plan to study more, work on my musical ability, exercise more, read more, hang out with friends ect.

Are you guys planning on giving up anything for lent?

I'm cutting down in exercise. All that unnecessary energy wasting isn't good for the environment.

"The enviroment" won't change very much at all based on my personal actions, so worry about it wastes my life more than it hurts the environment, so I make a point not to worry about it. (Don't worry I know you were being sarcastic)

Me inconveniencing myself by driving 30% less and wasting 10-15 hours a year recycling will be completely counteracted by China running 1 dirty coal factory for 10-15 seconds I bet. I made that up, but it seems plausible.

The U.S. has enough resources. I say we keep pollution down, but don't cripple our economy making up stupid mandates to fight evil Co2. We have enough resources that if the climate changes, we can adapt.

Also, there are more cold deaths every year than there are heat deaths. W/ global warming, arctic land might become farmable land, and farmable land now might become a little dry. Dryish aresa become desert. At one point in history Alask land was tropical.

I thought you meant to say "rent".

Anyway, I've been cutting back on a lot of things. Only buy old budget games, if I do and still can't get to play them as school sucks up a lot of my time now in the those last months.

Lent is a religious holiday... more like observance. Anyway, rent would make sense because of the poor economy.

I celebrate every holiday I can because I lack a religion. It spices up life significantly.

Can't wait till cinco de mayo, thats my favorite holiday that has nothing to do with me that I celebrate anyways.

Many people often forget the benefits of global warming, new shipping lanes and increased fish stocks are two of them.

But, of course, any benefits are far outweighed by the negatives.

Also, recycling does a lot more than tackle climate change. It lowers the demand, and therefore, the price of fossil fuels. It makes fossil fuel stocks last longer. And it can reduce short-term dependence on foreign oil if some crisis came up.

Why do you lack a religion? Have you not thought it through, or find it pointless, or believe science can give all the answers proving God pointless, or there doesn't seem to be any sense of anything greater out there, its just humanity floating in a big universe of nothiness, or what?

...

reading what I wrote, that sounds pretty negative, so I apologize in advance. I would like to know though.

Agnostic. Means nothing can be proven(or disproven) basically. And if I believed in a god, I wouldn't believe in worshiping him. An all powerful entity would not be petty enough to care.
