Mario & Sonic at Beijing Olympic is currently the closest.

Except it's published by Nintendo in Japan.

Even so, it's not a Nintendo game, it's a Sega game. The OP said non-Nintendo, it didn't say Nintendo couldn't publish it.

So then why is it not a Nintendo game? It was dually developed by both Nintendo and Sega.

Well, on the game database it says it was developed by Sega...

Sorry you were mislead then. Thanks for notifying me about the error.

OK, no problem.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

MH3 and Crystal Bearers both have a chance. DQX is a given.

MH3 or DQX.

Not unless Tales of Ten gets a huge response. Destiny 2 did sell like 700-800k.

What? As far as I know, the two games (Wii and DS versions) were completely developed by Sega, Nintendo just let them use the Mario franchise. Even if a few guys from Nintendo went over to guide and/or help Sega make the games, it was still Sega who made them, not Sega & Nintendo.

^^ what he said.

Hmm, you may be right. Gamefaqs said it was dually developed but Wikipedia has it as being developed by Sega only. I'll go with your side.

Haha, using DB editing powers to prove a point :P nice one

'cept it is actually true, so oh well.

Anyway, I don't think Monster Hunter G will, and who knows about MH3 - none of the PS2 games even got close, so it depends if it sells like the PSP one or the PS2

I'd say no chance to MHG but MH3 has an outside chance. DQ Swords did 500k first week (and then dropped like a lead balloon) with a smaller userbase so 1m for MH3 certainly isn't out of the question. That game has monster legs. Other than that, I don't know of anything in development that'd likely do 1m in Japan for Wii aside from DQX

So I was right?

Credit where credit's due.

It was developed by Sega, but Miyamoto had direct involvement and is listed in the credits of the game.

It still had some involvement from Nintendo - I however don't think this should be counted - it's a Nintendo title IMO.
