It's possible for PS3 to have a better year than Wii in Japan - if FF XIII releases in '09 like Square plans.

Well, Monster Hunter 3 would have to not come out.

Monster Hunter 3 will do a fraction of what the PSP versions do so it will not bump Wii sales like it did the PSP. However DQ 10 would do it but that game will be lucky to release in 2011.

Lets not be silly though, the PS3 had no chance to outsell the Wii this year or any other year in Japan. What the PS3 can do is pummel the 360 into the ground some more this year and make sure if any HD JRPG or for that matter any games made in Japan release they will be on the PS3, be that multi-plat or exclusive.

But that hardcore MH crowd will buy a Wii to get this game. I don't think MH3 will do half of MHP2:G but that's still over a million.

I am sorry MH3 people but you all seem forget the reason why MH-PSP is doing well. it is the local multiplayer if i am not mistaken. i would not be shocked if MH3 didnt crack a mil

Since Monster Hunter 3 announced for Wii, it has been shot into superstardom as a certain AAA game which will sell millions and millions just like the PSP versions. Monster Hunter seems a poor man's Pokemon, sells on handhelds but not on consoles.

I dont know how big the craze is in Japan right now but my brother is there and said he plays with his friends during school breaks. He said MH is a craze at his school and they all play together so for that reason I simply cannot see the Wii version doing that well, unless the Wii cannot be ported into restaurants, schools and such. :/

All HW numbers were very low,PS3 hold up well,almost no drop at all,but still...not very impressive.Wii is almost drop to PS3 numbers,and..Where the heck is 360?

I find it funny how people are saying "awesome numbers for Sony" when they aren't good at all. They're even down yoy. They only look good because the Wii is doing really bad in Japan lately.
