Forums - Sales Discussion - Wii to go below 10k a week in Japan!!!!!!

MH3 is rumor for July 23rd. If true, its effect should last until Sept/Oct to prevent Wii drop below 10,000.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

I'm not arguing that the PS3 isn't doing worse YoY, because it is. However, it's not down as much as the Wii, both in volume and percentage.

If the Wii drops to 10-14k later this year, expect the PS3 to hover around 5-6k at one point.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Firstly Wii was outselling PS3 by 6:1. Sometime after it went to 4:1. And now is more like 2:3. Intersting trend.

The Wii is still outselling the PS3.

I wrote 2:3? I meant 3:2 or 1.33:1, if you prefer.

That's because Wii has more to lose than the PS3.  Just common sense really.

The point is, the hardware scenario in Japan right now is bad.  Even if PS3 and 360 are not doing as bad or worse than YoY timeframes as Wii, no one is making up the ground that Wii is losing.  Meaning the scenario is BAD all around.  Same for DS and PSP.  Both are down YoY and no one is making up the ground.  Software in Japan is fine, but hardware is the problem.  Tie it in with the strong yen and over saturation of the market for the last 4-5 years and this is what you are left with.

I'm just happy releases such as Wii Sports Resort, FF13, DQIX, and Monster Hunter 3 are releasing this year or otherwise Japan would really be in trouble.

I think it's time Nintendo gives Japan a price cut and new colors.

The complete lack of quality big name games is also hurting it as well.

Stof made an interesting point, and then left the thread.

 Yes I agree!

I think that it would be very smart by Nintendo if they did a price cut to go along with the release of Monster Hunter G in the end of April. It would sell hardware and perhaps also help sell Monster Hunter on Wii as it could potentionally catch Monster Hunter customers waiting to make the leap to Wii.

/insert The Wii is doomz! gif

well after this and last weeks numbers my prediction looks more likely

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

I think it is safer to say a price drop is needed in Japan, I mean come on Nintendo, no need to be greedy, you know there is a recession and a price drop would do more than in a normal time.

Also the Wii will not drop below 10K, I think 15k will be the ABSOLUTE lowest.
