Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3 worth it now or wait? (for me that is)

I'd say wait. If there aren't a few games out that you're interested in yet, then there's no reason to get it. Why buy a console if nothing on it it appealing to you yet?

PS3: 5.51m/51w, avg 108,039/w (up 239)
360: 12.93m/102w, avg 126,764/w (up 625), leads PS3 by 7.42m (up 70k), avg lead 18,725/w (up 386)
Wii: 13.52m/51w, avg 265,098/w (dn 1,102), leads PS3 by 8.01m (up 90k), avg lead 157,059/w (dn 1,341)

If 360 sales stabilize, PS3 sales increases needed to pass 360 by...
01/08: (008w) +875.8%, 04/08: (021w) +344.4%, 07/08: (034w) +219.3%, 10/08: (047w) +163.5%
01/09: (060w) +131.8%, 04/09: (073w) +111.4%, 07/09: (085w) +098.1%, 10/09: (099w) +086.7%
If Wii sales stabilize, PS3 sales increases needed to pass Wii by...
01/08: (008w) +1072.%, 04/08: (021w) +498.4%, 07/08: (034w) +363.4%, 10/08: (047w) +303.1%
01/09: (060w) +269.0%, 04/09: (073w) +246.9%, 07/09: (085w) +232.6%, 10/09: (099w) +220.3%
If PS2 sales freeze, Wii sales increases needed to pass PS2 (as of Mar07, 108.4m) by...
2008: (008w) +4373.8%, 2009: (060w) +0496.5%, 2010: (112w) +0219.6%, 2011: (165w) +0116.9%
2012: (217w) +0064.9%, 2013: (269w) +0033.1%, 2014: (321w) +0011.5%, 2015: (376w) -0004.8%
At +0% it will pass it in 358w, the week ending September 19th, 2014, at an age of 409w (7y44w).
Current age of PS2: 7y37w.

Quoted for truth,

Yes to those who responded to me ps3 does have a lot of different games coming out, but lets be honost they are not the top of the line games except for a few of them which are also multiplatform. it all comes down to kick ass exclusives which some of those may appeal to some, but i was saying in general those games are not system pushing exclusivess

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

decisions, decisions. I'm going to look over the demos on psn and such and the release list and decide this weekend one way or the other...

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

Wait. You have more than enough hardware to enjoy most of the major games. And probably still won't have time to play all the ones you want to anyway.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

For you, the only reasons I would think you should pick up the ps3 now are the price. Even when it drops again, will you be able to get it for $350 + tax? Additionally, don't forget the 5 free movies deal that expires at the end of October. Otherwise, save up and get the tv. Of course then you'll get the tv and wish you had the br player...

True that even if they dont have the best games ever out yet, still quite a few good ones, but id only get it now if you can get the deal

I'd have to say that if you don't have a HDTV, the PS3 isn't worth it. However, a HDTV is worth it, and if you have that, then so is the PS3.

Heavenly sword is already considered better than god of war. Why do you think it will flop? And warhawk maight be a truly good online game(that brings a headset), if those to games dont flop I will luagh at you.

ha you obviously dont remeber when somne one posted a review of both oh and i ment lair not warhawk soz. But both games were up hear on VG ages ago cant remember site but they got less than 7.5 and basicly if the game is sonys "killer aps" it sucks sony are pretty much the only people rating it higher than 7.5

@stonj:
Reason for LAIR's bad review:
http://gamers-creed.com/?p=324

GOOD
They said motion control was cool.
The ground combat was well done.
No mention of frame rate indicating it was stable.
They liked the epic scope of the game.

BAD
They thought the dragon was a re- skinned x-wing
The dragon shooting fireballs was odd and wasn’t realistic enough
The game had no map and someone asked if the graphics were good and he said “its High Def” and he didn’t like the colors used, everything was brown and Grey.
They didn’t like the art style and said the game lacked innovation.

Thats why LAIR got a bad review!!

Heavenly Sword has had a 10/10 from Play magazine and 9/10 from a Polish gaming magazine and LAIR got a 9/10 from Play magazine and 3.8/5 from gamepro.
