No you can't. VGC backs this system, so as a reviewer you'll have to as well.

do the reviewers make a review for the games they baught/rented or do they get access to them somehow different?

We do get the occasional review copy, however since they're not very abundant yet these probably won't be given to junior staff very soon. So it's based on your own games.

I have a question. What, if anything, is the remuneration?

I assume that cash is out; however, given the current financial situation the world is wading through, that's no bad thing. So, beyond that, does one receive anything beyond VGCartz kudos? Is there access to super, secret-squirrel fora to discuss future reviews? A cuddly VGChartz toy? Anything?

It will definitely be voluntary. So no salary involved.

You will gain access to the hyper-secret staff forums and obviously your opinion will be read by quite a substantial number of people.

Hyper-secret, eh? Sounds fancy. I may be convinced to write a review or two around my deadlines as a bit of stress relief. However, given I'm now mostly a PS3 man, my primary choices for review are probably about as required as a realistically proportioned head in Everybody's Golf. That said, I can retro-review from here to eternity, and I also game on PC and PSP -- occassionally -- so I may be slightly useful.

Older games is definitely very possible and needed. However access to (one or more of) the above mentioned current gen syatems is a must.
