Much anticipation for this game, but to so many it is only just a name put on "to get" lists. How do we feel about this game? Does it hold more promise than Killer7, the title that preceeded it last gen? What are people's thoughts on it's potential? What are our Anticipations? Aprehensions? Fears? Hopes? Desires? For those not terribly familiar with the title yet or privy to seeing the trailers, here are some to give you an idea of what to expect in this stylized cell-shaded distopian serial killer paradise.

While possessing character-designs ranging in style and theme from Jackass' Johny Knoxsville to Quentin Terrantino's Kill Bill, this sociopathic adventure pits you in a strangely linear GTA-style world where there are no heroes only "Killers" (super glorified Serial Killers masquerading as Super Villains) who terrorize humanity while biding for rank admist their peers. You play as Travis Touchdown a questionably-witted young man with a beam katana (and a love for anime and Pro-Wrestling) eager to climb his way up from rank 11. Fight using sword combos and pro-wrestling moves against street punks and other Killers ranging in excentricity from costumed villains to samurai sword weilding highschool girls. Do you have what it takes to make it to the top in a world where a man can only be a hero in any sense of the word by being less villainous than those he kills in cold blood?

Personally I have some misgivings over possible gameplay and replay issues looking at how simplified and seemingly unrefined early gameplay videos look. The voice acting is also an issue for many eagerly awaiting this games release though I find it to be oddly fitting in its own campy way.

The original teaser trailer was so amazingly stylish. If they could tie in good voice with those eye-popping visuals and blistering soundtrack, the gameplay almost wouldn't matter.

Almost. I share your concern that the actual game looks repetitive and uninspired. I think it's still too early to judge. Let's just say that the the game enormous potential to either impress or disappoint.

The game looks VERY good. I'm really looking forward to NMH.

I'm actually going to be buying Killer 7 soon just for a taste of the style. I hope I can find it.

By life end:

  • Wii- 100 million+
  • Xbox360- 35~40 million
  • PS3- 30 million
  • PSP- 30~32 million ------------- FAILURE
  • NDS- 85~90 million (Skeptical)  - FAILURE
  • NDS- 100 million+ (Optimistic) -- Success!

The concept is just such a cool idea in my opinion, everything from the graphical style to the plot.

They better not screw it up.

It looks great, and it seems to be much more 'playable' than Killer 7 was.

It's Linear, not like GTA as some people have been thinking from early footage and it should be the same weird/crazy subject matter, characters and events.

The premise of the game is great too, maybe not as cool as seven killers in one mind, but a ranking of the top assassins and a guy who got a light saber from ebay to kill them and become number 1 is a pretty damn entertaining story :)

Edit: Forgot to mention that I love the art style and think the game looks amazing visually.

This is definitely the most promising 3rd party game on the Wii hands down.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Well, cklmb put pretty much my exact words about this one.

My concern is also in the gameplay, and what do we know so far, is that it's not a sandbox game, it doesn't use the Wii Remote special features in its basic gameplay (although you have to shake the remote to charge your lightsaber, which i find hilarious) and it should be more violent than Manhunt. Let's hope that violence isn't the main focus on development.
The story is so mindless, that i find it interesting.
Artistic style is awesome, and so is the voice acting (perfect for the style of the game).

I have been interested in the game since that it had still the name Heroes, and what i've seen so far, i would quote Travis Touchdown: I like that!

I think when he said it was more violent than Manhunt he was joking, this kind of violence is a lot more cartoony and over the top while mahunt is a lot grittier and more realistic in its violence.

Also, I thought you use the Wiimote to slice and dice people, don't you? I was looking forward to some sword fighting with the Wii mote done right.

About the mindless story thing, I think it's a lot less mindless than almost every game out there in its story. The fact that it's not the same cliche good guys saving the world and beating the bad guys is a huge plus.

From the looks of it, it's more like a spaghetti western in that there are just different 'bad' characters fighting for their own interests instead of black and white cliche separations.

You really don't need to overly elaborate a story to make it good, just need to present it suitably for what it is. I want this game to basically cut out the fat that fills up all cliche stories, basically the girl the guy, the love story and fighting to save the world stuff...

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

I'm definitly going to have to pick up Killer7 for the Gamecube as well.

The site's got a few new updates, and I figured I'd bump the newest NMH thread we rather than start a new one. Hopefully linking the images straight from the site works...

Apparently she's the professor who designed Travis' beam katana. Also a bit of a bitch, and I don't think you're supposed to kill her. =/

Former pro-wrestler and yakuza. Teaches Travis both unarmed and sword fighting. Called his "master" or something.

Oh, actually it seems like there are many types of beam katana and Naomi just designed the "Tsubaki" model.
