Forums - Website Topics - VGChartz, brought to you by Resident Evil Degeneration

Jokes aside could we do something about all the adds and clutter on VGchartz, this website is so resource heavy that my internet connection chugs along trying to use it. Not to mention the occasional virus and spyware warnings that start ringing out when I'm surfing the site.

On another note, who else wishes Capcom had put half the effort into backing or advertising any of their other games as is being done with this CGI Resident Evil Movie? I mean it's being advertised on TV nearly 24/7 on particular channels and many video game sites seem to have become virtual billboards for it. Though I also imagine most of the funds for advertising is coming from Sony who produced it and is banking on this pushing Blu-Ray and UMD sales. Why couldn't Capcom have put these resources into making another game? The thing is so timidly modeled after RE2 you can tell they were trying to play as safe as they could with it. Is this even canon with the games?

But I digress.

Wow, look at all the ban fines accumulated in your negative VGchartz money. Wow. What do you do to get banned so much dude? Oh well, live and learn right?

Anyway, what do you think about the matter? Does your PC handle the site well? Am I the outlier here?

The website server and bandwidth has to be paid for some how. I love how people complain about ads, but fail to acknowledge that without them the site would go bankrupt and be taken down.

Your choices are buy lots of games from the VGChartz store, game specific ads (virus free), and/or free ipod ads (that come with viruses on occasion).

If options 1 & 2 work enough to keep this site alive then we can get rid of all the generic ads and not have to worry about viruses/trojans/worms any more. Slowly these other options are working better, but without the views/clicks/buys, the site will have to revert back to generic ads.

Also, if you see a virus/spyware notice, then please pm ioi with information about where it tried to redirect you or the virus was downloaded from (typically included in the notice) Also, provide screenshots/information(location, type) of any questionable ads. the ads are regional, so if you live in the US you are going to see different ads then if ioi who is in the UK.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Check out my game about moles ^

I do support the use of ads. I agree with Nord Lead that this is how the site is paid for and they are necessary.

I know that certain ads lock up my work laptop because they are malicious or just poorly programmed. My security software blocks the site and then I can't browse and post all day. Other than that they don't really impact me.
