6 and 8 are the best IMO

First: FF6 OST, duh.

Second: The Black Mages (first album, by a long shot, the 2nd one's good too though). It has "Dancing Mad" on it, but all Black Maged out and amazing.

Third: The rendition of the opera scene from FF6, as performed by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, at the Orchestral Game Soundtracks Concert 4 from 1994.

Not a lot of love here for IV...

Not gonna say it's the best soundtrack, but has a lot of good, including the overworld, Red Wing, various castles (esp. Baron), and haunting cave music. And maybe I'm alone, but I've always loved the Mysidia theme (original, not DS).

For best, yeah, probably VI. For best song... hmm... OWA is great, but I prefer To Zanarkand.

Best song in any FF is and always will be Cosmo Canyon...

And FFVIII music is simply superb (Only a plank between one and perdition, Ragnarok, of course Liberi Fatali, etc). Tactics owns every FF, though
