It was/is a good RPG, I would give a 8.4/10(I played the xbox version). Why are you asking?.

Well, the game is turn based combat, you use magic, arrows, swords, etc. You use characters that are NOT in the previous games but the game follows TLOTR story line, you sometimes meet Legolas, Aragon, and the others. If you like turn based RPGs and TLOTR you will like it.

Some facts first:

1. If you do not like turn-based RPGs, you will not like it.

2. You do not control the main characters most of the time.

Personally I thought it was extremely poor, even for a turn-based "traditional" RPG (meaning the Dragon Warrior/Final Fantasy type of game). The characters are boring, story insipid (well, it's a video game, what do you expect?) and "action" dull, dull, dull. There are tons better games on XB/PS2/GC than this one; I wouldn't waste your time.

Note: I dislike most turn-based RPGs in any case, but LotR is my favorite book (the movies suck).
