Forums - Gaming Discussion - 720p or 1080p?

I got a wicked sweet 1080p tv but it seems most games are upscaled to that resolution......I got a PS360 and I wonder is it worth my putting the settings at 1080p? I know I should put my PS3 to 1080 for Blus but what about gaming?

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

1080p all the way for big screens.

Even though games are upscaled, it looks better. I upgraded from a 720p 58 inch TV to my new 67 inch 1080p samsung last month. Man, there sure is a difference when it comes to screens that big. if you have a 40 inch, you wont really see much difference.

Im on a 52" fyi.......does upscaling effect game preformance, like framerate?

So wouldnt be much of a difference in visual quality when comparing a 720p 42" and a 1080p 42" ? Because there sure as hell is a difference in price.

Hey do Blu-Rays look good in 720p?

Is there a big difference between 480p and 720p?

at 42" there won't be a huge noticable difference but if your the kind of person that watch for stuff like that 1080p will still look superior than 720.

and yes the difference between 480p and 720p is MASSIVE

When you buy a game, take a look at the back of the box. It will show you what resolution it's configured for, and not all games are made equal so this is a helpful tidbit.

Ah ok. Im looking into buying my first HDTV, and money isnt exactly falling out of my ass. But i am willing to spend  few extra bucks to bump up a 720p to 1080p, if the difference would warrent it.
