Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii in the Wild

Tonight I dropped by the very Target where I bought my Wii @ launch and for the first time since launch I actually saw a Wii behind the glass. 10 of them, to be precise.

I asked an employee when they were put out and he said yesterday (Tuesday).

Now I went to this Target at least once a week through June and have only been there once since then so I can't say that the Wii have been sitting for more than a day in between June and August, but definitely not before June.

I wonder if there were a lot more units and now they are down to 10.
I wonder if this was supposed to coincide with this particular location getting Strikers Charged (sometimes they don't get new games for a week or two).

I wonder why they were there.
Is it indicative of the time of year, the lack of games, or perhaps this is the first midweek shipment they've received and it wasn't in the flyer. Through June they only had the Wii on Sundays to coincide with it being in the flier.

Any other reasons you guys can think of?

Wii is teh fad!

There are a few new Wii packages/deals available around the place at the moment. From what I gather, sales have increased significantly as a result:

Gesta Non Verba

Nocturnal is helping companies get cheaper game ratings in Australia:

Game Assessment website

Wii code: 2263 4706 2910 1099

It was probably a combination of many different factors and i'll give you my take.
I would be shocked if 10 was close to what they were shipped. I work in one of the smallest gamestops i have ever seen and we get shipments of 9 and 15. I would be surprised if a store like target would get the same sized shipment as a tiny store.
There seems to be a very strange phenomenon that occurs at my store that could very well happen else where. Whenever we get Wii's one of two things happen, either they sell out before i open the box, or 1/10th of the amount of people who normally ask for wiis a day ask that day. sometimes it seems like the only time that i dont get asked 30 times a shift for a Wii are when i actually have some.
also being midweek during the end of the summer normally results in less customers. This is the time when camps are ending and kids are getting ready for school aka this is vacation time for families.
The demand at my store is huge. That doesnt mean it is everywhere. theres a chance that deamnd has finally been met in your area...

I was gonna say "PHUCK, those are 'deals'? " but then I remembered you are in Australia.

Wii sports is not pack in there?

24.95 for ONE nunchuck? That truly sucks...

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
