This is huge? I hope that's sarcasm.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

nice. i will check it out tonight.

Its not a "big" improvement, but it is a decent update.

They improved aesthetics (generally - that clock is ugly) and channel functionality. No, it isn't groundbreaking, but its a step in the right direction.

I feel that Nintendo is 1-2 updates away from the "big" ones where they allow headsets, keyboards, mice, and that sort of thing in the USB ports.

Its a decent update - but not a huge one.

I think WiiConnect24 schedules updates gradually, which is why many (mine included) Wiis were not glowing yet - I forced an update, and got the changes.

I think its primarily for internal (API?) changes for the shopping channel - and maybe a warning shot to modders. I think its awesome that Nintendo can now detect and shutdown modded Wii hardware ;)

...

The big update - probably the "surprise" that is coming in September - could be the "voice" (speaking) update. It would be awesome to kick open the news channel, start making dinner - and have all the news stories read to me while I was cooking!

(beyond that, the only thing I can dream of - is a platter of downloadable content for Metroid - although we won't get the game till late Oct/early Nov ...)

the only useful thing we would ever need is the time on the HOME menu, yet we don't get it...

What I would like is the option to plug in a USB based keyboard or a external HD or even run off SD cards.

2 new things I noticed. When selecting a mii for when you are messaging people, the name of the mii shows up, just like with the name of the channels in the wii menu.

also, when sending a maessage, a new message appears saying "sending message"

Huh?  It's there.   I just noticed mine is off but 45min.  However, it should auto-sync once a day based on the time zone from your location from the weather channel...

He means when you press the Home Button, so you can see what time it is while you are playing a game.
