Forums - Sony Discussion - Underwhelmed by Home Beta

Since the beta is public, what's the point of entering the 12 digit key? Too keep 14 million PSN users from trying it at the same time?

Well I received an invitation and after been there for about 5 hours I can say that FOR ME is a cool experience.
The gaming area with bowls, pool and arcades machines....the lot of people you can meet...the movie theater.
Anyway,I'll chat with at least 50 people and nearly everyone seems glad at Home, saying its a fresh and new kind experiene.
Home is all about sociability,a gaming one and we don't even see the full experiene.

LOL some guys tell me about their disappointment for the lack of fighting moves to punch other people, they shoul buy an online fighting game

for me home ''beta'' equal empty, am pretty sure i was one of the person that you saw dancing, because there's nothing else to do
bowling is not bad but not good neither and there's only 3 arcades games for the moment and also that socom movie in the theatre is wack.
i just wonder will we have to pay for home or will it be a free program on psn with lots of advertising in it to make up the cost?

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

@chapset, I think the plan is for Home to be part of the online experience for Playstation - just something that comes with the console.

Then there was a group of people standing around chatting, but since you have to use text, it takes a while to carry out a good conversation.  Voice would be appreciated.

It's safe to say this guy has no clue what he's talking about.

Home is boring as hell and feels like a big waste of time. The only thing I've enjoyed so far is the view from my apartment, but even that's more of a tease than anything else. If they'd let me wander around on the pier below, then maybe they'd have something.

It was also extremely crowded the night I got on. I went to the area with bowling, billiards, and arcade games, but every single thing was being used in the place!

My only hope for Home is that it will have plenty of game related content come release. I've heard good things about the Warhawk war rooms, and the 2d Uncharted sidescroller that they'll offer at Naughty Dog's space should be fun. Assuming it isn't always in use like the stuff above.

I've also head Home might be a pseudo party system for the ps3, as shown through things like the Warhawk war rooms. I've also heard that upon release, you'll be able to meet up in someone's apartment and jump into a game together. That'd be nice.

I thought I heard someone using voice chat already.

You can use voice chat.

They need more stuff like this. Things that just make your whole gaming experience alot more convenient. Features like being able to join and invite people to games easily. Easier/quicker ways to chat, etc. Though honestly I'd prefer features like this to be added into the XMB instead of Home, so we don't have to load it up everytime.

All the eye-candy  is really great, but when it comes to actual gaming-related stuff, they don't serve too much purpose.

What I'm really wondering is how inviting people to your apartment will work. I hope they make it so once you're invited, you can visit that apartment anytime.

The way Home is now with it's many stripped features, there's not too much to do besides meet people, but it looks like it has massive potential. Hopefully Sony will live upto that potential. Assuming they do, it could be a huge boost to PS3's online community. Can't really say much till it's out though...

Well, I got the Home beta the other day, and so far it seems, well, underwhelming.  The initial hassle of creating your character with a very slow loading of the different customizations was a bit annoying, but in the end you can create a decent representation of yourself.

Then you have to download each new section, which isn't exactly too bad, it's another initial hassle when you want to go to a new area and have to wait a few minutes.  Oh, and what is up with Home forcing me to reserve 3GB of data for it?  Kind of deceiving when the download is only 77MB, but then it requires this 3GB space.  Not really that big of a deal considering I have plenty, just a bit misleading is all.

So, I get on and there were plenty of people in my area, but I really didn't exactly feel inclined to start conversations with them.  I found this one small area where people were virtual dancing, which just seems as retarded as dancing on WoW to me, so I walked away from that.  Then there was a group of people standing around chatting, but since you have to use text, it takes a while to carry out a good conversation.  Voice would be appreciated.  I haven't had a chance to checkout the arcade or bowling, or any individual game spaces, but having to walk around and download every single section is going to make me skip Home most of the time.  I mean, it isn't even like they are making over their entire interface.  They are just adding a social "game" where you can go in and have a "second life".  Maybe those things just aren't for me, but I just wasn't impressed.

The only things I found good were the big TV screens with trailers, and I'm sure the arcade, bowling, and some game spaces will be fun, but not worth my time considering I only ever turn on my PS3 when I am joining a buddy in a game.

Why do you have a ps3 because almost 75 percent of your post are anti ps3, do you recieve the console as a gift because you dont even have games for it.
