Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii games with superior graphics than Xbox 360, or Playstation 3 games

I only like Nintendo-style graphics anyway (Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, SSB) so ultra-realism doesn't do it for me and I have to say Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3* look amazing.

*Metroid is not realistic. I assure you it's nothing like Halo in terms of game world feel.

I took the OP to mean are there Wii titles that look better than some PS3/360 titles. And the answer is certainly.

Now if the question is "Are there Wii titles that look better than ALL PS3/360 titles." well in that case the answer is gonna be no. But this is only from a strictly "realistic is better" standpoint. Some people enjoy games with complimentary art styles and to them there probably are Wii games that look better than all PS3/360 games.

Lol, you don't even know what you're talking about.  Seriously the point of games with stylized art is not to "look better" it is just to look exactly a certain way..for example look at South Park.  Are you trying to tell me that South Park is a much better show in HD?

You assumed I was trying to assert Wii superiority or something.  But this isn't the case.  Of course the PS3 is capable of rendering these games, nobody is saying it isn't.  But what I am saying is that the PS3 has very little support for those types of games and has a much broader library of "realistic" art styles. So when somebody who prefers these games finds one of these art styles they like on a Wii game, they can legitimately say they think that Wii game looks better than PS3/360 games because afterall "Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder".

The underlying point here is that graphics are inherently subjective. You asserting that one game looks better than another is just as valid as me saying the universe was created by a giant pineapple made of cheese.  Neither of us can prove our statement since yours is opinion based and mine would be...well insane.

None of this is terribly hard to understand unless you are just being obstinate.  And I fear the problem may be that the thought of someone not having the opinion that "PS3 graphics > all" somehow disturbs you and affects you.  But why should it?  The entire point I am making is that if YOU like realistic graphics then fan-F'n-tastic enjoy your PS3 and let the folks who don't want that play their games in peace.

The best on the Wii may look better than the worst on the 360/PS3 but if you compare the best on the Wii to the best on the 360/PS3 then there's simply no comparison. Also if you compare the same styles of game (stylized, realistic, etc) the 360/PS3 will also come out on top but if people who prefer one style over another choose to make comparisons with their favored style on the Wii vs. another style on the 360/PS3 they'll feel the Wii comes out on top based on personal preference of artistic style rather than a fair comparison.

An undeniable fact is that both the 360 and PS3 are capable of producing far better graphics than the Wii as far as the hardware is concerned but it's the quality of the developers, their knowledge of the hardware, and how much resources they're willing to devote to graphics that is the deciding factor.

 ^ totally agree.

@a.l.e.x59,

More the time will pass, more the Xbox360/PS3 will be optimized to reach their best performance. Same for the Wii.
But since the Wii is easier to devellop on (I assume this) and since Wii is less powerfull, the only way a Wii games will be superior, graphically, to a Xbox360/PS3 games is RIGHT NOW or NEVER.

And right now, Wii is already inferior.

But Wii is the cheapiest so it is expected, isnt it ?

ORLY? For certain art styles there are limits in what can be achieved by brute force. 2D games are one of them - art became more important that power a long time ago for that. Even certain 3D games, for example Mario which thrives more on simplicity than complexity, the limit for what can be graphically achieved may be met on the Wii.

Untold Legends and Full Auto 2 : Battlelines are 2 PS3 games that come to my mind.

On the Xbox360 a lot of launch "period" titles were seriously lacking the the gfx department.

Heck even Fusion Frenzy 2 released a few months back had worse gfx than Wii games.

Heeeeyyyy!!!! <Snap>
