Ok its not an official announcement, so sorry for the half misleading title. But this is better than nothing. So today i got COD5 played a few games online checked my score i was rank 270k there was still ALOT of players below me at the minimum theres 320k players on the scoreboard. Then theres all those that arnt on the scoreboard its at least over 400k already. On COD5 it tells you how many players are online and there were 85k currently playing online. Worldwide it could be around 500k.

i got the game at around 12ish uk time noon i tried it 4ish and there were over 250k on the leaderboards at that time

Considering that Call of Duty 4 sold about that amount in its first week, I wouldn't be surprised.

I considered Call of Duty 4 still the best game in the series. The online modes were great on both the 360 and the PS3. I have no expectations for Call of Duty 5. I am waiting for Call of Duty 6. I heard Infinity Ward will be bringing the game back to modern warfare.

COD5 should do good. My friends with PS3s, they play COD4 like it's a religion. It's like what Halo is to 360.
