Forums - Gaming Discussion - OXM reviews The Last Remnant

I'd like to point out something ironic that we'll see here.

We're gonna have every PS3 fan on this forum comment on this thread.

They'll say things like "another square-enix screw-up" or "square sucks" or "MS bought another flop."

However, the irony is that if OXM had given this game a 10/10, these same people would say "It's OXM, of course they gave it a 10/10," and "Let's wait for some real review sites, this one source isn't credible," or, "OXM, enough said."

The irony doesn't lie in their hypocrisy. It's expected. What's ironic is how kids today couldn't hate corrupt government, intolerance, special interests, and bias more than they do now, yet any one of these folks would be far more bias and corrupt given the same responsibilities as any government official in any government.

I can tell you the people on this website, that you could trust IRL with any kind of social responsibility, and those that you couldn't. Fanboyism has nothing to do with what console you like. It's about the type of person that you are.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

7/10

Knowing American review sites, they're obviously going to have lower reviews for Japanese RPG's.  That's not to say that they're wrong though.

The only words describing this game so far from a reviewer are that it has a great story, but a lot of grinding.

All the Final Fantasy scores say hello! They dont care.

I have no problem with SE I Just think they should stick to making one or two game titles at a time and put their best people on them.

Still going to pick this one up imo. I loved LO, and it didn't do very well review wise, average score. But those type of games don't always gel with everyone.....we shall see what the gamers on this site think once they have had a chance to experience the game first hand. I trust many users on this site more, in regards to giving an intelligent review regarding a JRPG than many of the review sites out there.

But sometimes that's just true from any gamer. In fact, I used to be a diehard Squaresoft fan. Not any more since the PS2 days. PS3 fan or not, some things are just true regardless of the messanger. This is pre-damage control from you because just because it isn't in favor of the 360 doesn't mean it isn't true and it's only from "PS3 fans." And what type of person are you who makes pressumptions and vast unwarranted negative generalizations?

Are you trying to suggest that ps3 fanboys wanted this game to suck?  I seriously doubt that, need I remind you this game will eventaully be coming out on the ps3 as well? Why would anyone in their right mind want a game to flop that is going to be on their console as well?

As for your comment regarding if OXM had given it a 10/10 and how ps3 fanboys would say "It's OXM, of course they gave it a 10/10" my comment above still holds true.  The Last Remnant is coming to the ps3 also so a good score (regardless of it being an xbox magazine) would mean that the ps3 would also be gettn a AAA game which means all these "ps3 fans" would probably be jumping for joy rather than criticizing the magazine and its score.

Perhaps you are just an ill informed xbox fanboy who is trying to defend his console of choice from the harsh criticism of the evil ps3 fanboys who are in league with Osama bin laden.

My point is why even make this remark? by even typing a response like this you are only fueling the flames and encouraging those "ps3 fans" to verbally attack you.  Yes I am a ps3 fan but more importantly I am a video game fan. (not to mention a SE fan) Besides a 7 is a respectable score, do I really need to remind everyone that a 70 is a C...if I recall a C means average does it not? as in not an F for failure?

Therefore by analyzing this score any one with half a brain could conclude that the last remnant is an average game, it isn't a disgusting piece of trash but it also is not a polished diamond.  It is simply average.

and now I am done with my long rant...plz continue to discuss :)

If this game was rated 10/10 by OXM you would be the first to say "Microsoft steals another great title" don't show up other by titling them as fanboys when you know you are one yourself.

You do realise in the year that Final Fantasy 7 dropped, Squaresoft (back then) had also brought out Bushido Blade, Final Fantasy Tactics and SaGa Frontier right? Since releases in 1996 would have been worked on at around the same time (ditto 1998), it's pretty safe to say that during what you feel was Square's prime (FF7), they were working on more than just one or two games

Square-Enix is one of the biggest JRPG companies in the world, they have more than enough staff to handle making a bunch of games.

Instead, what Square enix needs to do is return to it's old ways of running the company, whereby each games sales had to fund it's own development (or rather reimburse the funds used for development), or at least keep the shovelware inside Japan, so that we don't hear people complaining about it.

EDIT: I thought I should post something on topic.

I really wanted Last remnant to be good, this generation of home consoles has been starved of truly great JRPG's (I know I've only played one and could name about 2 or 3 others). Hopefully it will turn out that OXM was in the minority of reviews
that disliked the game.

Sadly, that was two gens ago.  This is now...  I might not agree with Bullet's assessment, but I can't blame him for feeling that something needs to change for them to produce games of both quantity and quality as they once did.

Hackers are poor nerds who don't wash.

People are writing this game off pretty fast.

Oh wait, I forgot. It's timed exclusive.
