Also another source HERE incase someone would doubt that source.

Just news that was released by Sony in it's Fiscal 2007 Q1 earnings which detailed the sales numbers.  (keep in mind this is NOT shipped units, these are SOLD units.)

There is already a thread for this: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=4781&start=0#end

By the way, those are shipped units, regardless what you want to believe.

Do you lack reading comprehension?  It's stated there that these numbers are units sold not shipped.   Had you read that article you would know that.

There was just another thread on this where it was debunked - using the same freaking sources.  Read the front page of Vgchartz news.

First of all,

Sonys financial report says 4.28 million units have been sold.  The people who wrote this article can't add.  Sony said 3.57 million units were sold to retailers through March 31 in their Quarterly Report.  Then they said, .71 million units were sold in Quarter 1 (April-June 2007) bringing the grand total of shipped units to 4.28 million units.

4.48 million units is bullshit, if you don't believe me, read Sony's actual report.  Maybe you'll belive Sony.

Second,

The reason Sony says sold is because they are now reporting the sales to retailers instead of manufactured PS3s.  Before, Sony reported manufactured PS3s as 'sold', now only PS3s which stores bought count as 'sold'.  That does not mean customers (as in gamers) have 4.28 million PS3s.

Sony reported manufacturing numbers before because it is a financial statement.  Since Sony loses money on each PS3 that is sold, they have to tell their investors just how much they are losing - not just the breakdown of what stores bought to sell to gamers.

Third,

Another thread already exists on this.  I'm locking this one since it serves no purpose.
