Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I just purchased a Wii for my son's 5th birthday.

I'd say Mario Kart, de Blob, Boom Blox and Wario Ware.

Cool. Thanks for the pointers. Looks like Mario Kart and poss Boom Blox. Is there a Ninty mag with a demo disc or anything like that, so he can have a blast on a few games to decide if he likes them. I may look at the Virtual Console and see if there's anything on there. Can you believe that just last week The Woman gave away my gamecube and both controllers!

Definitely Mario Galaxy and Kart. Good thing about Galaxy is the co-op, so you can help him out if needed.

Boom Blox and WarioWare are also good ideas, maybe the Blob.

And of course all the 2D Mario's from the Virtual Console!

Wii Play is certainly a good idea
Galaxy/Kart
Brawl maybe, depends how good he is at games and whether you want him fighting
Boom Blox
mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games

Wii play for extra mote,
Mario party 8,
Mario kart,
Boom Blox.

My 5 yr old nephew likes
Boom Blox
Galaxy (though the story at the begining was too long for him)
Wii Play
Wii Fit
and Super Smash Bros. (His mom lets him play Halo3... Don't know why though)

tetris party on wii ware
a ton of VC options (check my profile)
resident evil 4 (for urself)
mario kart
lego starwars
zack and wiki
super mario galaxy
excite truck
maybe some of the cartoon (nickelodeon) based games
de blob
samba de amigo

wii play for $10 when you get extra controller is great. My 5/6 yr olds love it.

I guess that is a good list.

Trauma Center.

Get him started on a decent career early. ;)

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

The Wii is off the chain. I have a XBOX 360 already, and im about to pick a Wii up too. Im play it when im in my dorm room sometimes. Im 21 and im glad to finally see a true new system (Wii), other then a graphic update.

My cousin is 5, and he's a retard when he plays Galaxy lol. It may look kiddy, but its a bit hard for kids I'd say. Mario Kart should be good.
