- price cut Depending on your point of view. When a clear, across the board cut arrives, the competition will have little trouble matching.
- great deals (amazon) Wonder why Amazon is offering such "great deals" for the PS3 but not the 360 or the Wii?
- steady stream of software As is true of all 3 consoles
- dominating game shows Dominating? Sony won E3 according to some sites, but didn't dominate. Mainstream press is crowning the Wii the winner (as I predicted).

C'mon, you can do better.

 Sony momentum reasons

so the price cut is not a reason for their gained momentum???
a great deal is not a reason for increased momentum ???
PS3 had a pretty long software drought, now its over.
Sony ruled GDC, had a great gamers day and in the eye of GAMERS won E3 gaind good will from core/hardcore games.

WTF are you arguing aginast exactly ?

C'mon do you have a brain ?

People aren't going to buy the console for the mic availability online, neither for the arcade titles. Those are both good additional benefits, but not the reason you buy a console.

With the number of exclusive games coming to PS3 this fall and holidays there will be big exclusives across a lot of genres that will attract people to buy the console. The games sell the console first and foremost not the services that are there to satisfy customers that already bought the system.

Also, Killzone 2 is not done, Ratchet and Clank I think looks better than almost anything on 360 and Uncharted looks as good as almost anything on 360. Sony's first and second parties are churning out big games and now that the drought of games over the first half a year or so after launch is over I expect PS3 exclusives to keep coming that will convince people to buy the console.

These:

Heavenly Sword
Unreal Tournament 3
Haze
Ratchet and Clank
Uncharted
Eye of Judgment
Gran Turismo HD
Warhawk
Lair
Singstar
Socom: Confrontation
LittleBigPlanet
Wipeout HD

Are the PS3 exclusives for the rest of the year and that's a good variety: 2 racers, 4 shooters, 3 action games, 1 platformer, 1 card battle game, 1 karaoke game, 1 platformer/level creator.

Exactly.

@sharky, your argument for Xbox Live is faulty in that the amount of time it took XBL to build up to the point it's at now and disregard that Sony is making great strides all the time to improve their service while keeping it free. Also I'd actually prefer that not everyone has a mic, some people are downright annoying.

@misterd, you do realize that Ckmlb has both a 360 AND a PS3 right? He was simply showing off some pretty good reasons to get excited. Is your argument simply that you do not think these games will be good? You know many different reviewers/gamers have had hands on with quite a few of these games, including Heavenly Sword, Lair, Warhawk(of course) and Gran Turismo, and they have really enjoyed them. It is VERY unlikely that any of these games will be less than a AAA title(maybe the Eye of Judgement) Most should be exceptional though. Of course they could all be crap since they don't have waggle, since it seems to be the general attitude here lately that if it's not on the Wii then it's just shit. I really don't understand this attitude.

If the 60Gb doesn't sell out before the holidays, Sony will be in trouble. They'll have 2 SKU's at $499/$599 just like last holiday. And, just like last holiday, it will come in third.

I'm curious as to how much of this increase Sony can maintain between now and Madden/Lair. Will they drop back to 20k? I certainly hope not. I hope it gives the 360 a run for it's money.

Sony momentum reasons

so the price cut is not a reason for their gained momentum???   We cannot judge momentum after one week.  That said, the price shuffle is most certainly helping.
a great deal is not a reason for increased momentum ???  Some people don't want movies with their game system.  Some people don't want games with their movie player.
PS3 had a pretty long software drought, now its over.  That is entirely a point-of-view matter.  I'm still seeing nothing amazing coming out on the PS3 right now.  Eventually?  Sure.  Now?  No.
Sony ruled GDC, had a great gamers day and in the eye of GAMERS won E3 gaind good will from core/hardcore games.  Well, I'm a gamer, and it is my opinion that Sony did okay at E3.  It did not win by any means, none of the three of them were particularly amazing.

WTF are you arguing aginast exactly ?

C'mon do you have a brain ?  Don't throw insults around, it makes you look like an immature troll.

Be patient.

Everything has some momentum, so long as it is not sitting still. If you wish to argue it has gained some momentum, I can agree. If you wish to argue that it has gained substantial, long term momentum as compared to its competition, which in the end is what I think matters most, I must disagree. Given the nature of the forum and the original post, I believed the latter interpretation was the one at hand.

 As for your specific points:

1) Price cut is a reason for gained momentum, at least until it ceases to exist at some unknown point in the future.

2) A great deal could well be offered because the system hasn't enough movement on its own.

3) Software is coming. It isn't here yet. And the biggest software is coming next year.

4) Won? Maybe. Dominated? No.

As for the brain, I've never seen it, but if it's not there, I'm a medical miracle.

Honestly it doesn't much matter to me what consoles he has or does not have. The same list of games has been shown for a long time. It hasn't moved consoles yet. When they are released, when we see reviews, sales, feedback, then let me know. We've seen supposed AAA titles tank, sometimes failing to deliver quality, sometimes just not delivering sales. It may be getting Ckmlb excited, but as you say, he has a PS3. To truly gain momentum, the PS3 needs to move more consoles, and that means the games must excite the non-owners enough to plunk down $560 at a minimum. As I said earlier, we will know soon enough if they do.

Hell, four of my favorite games last gen (Eternal Darkness, Beyond Good and Evil, Psychonauts, and Jade Empire) got fantastic reviews, and all sank like stones upon release. I am not saying that will happen. I am not hoping it does - I may not be a Sony fan, but I would never wish an ill fate on a great game - but the potential is always there. AND it is there for all 3 systems.

As for waggling, I don't recall making that a part of my argument. Games can suck and rock, with and without waggle. The difference is your arms don't get as tired playing the sucky non-waggle games.
