True, everybody knows Nintendo brand better than playstation because of the quasi-monopoly of the 80's and early 90's in the video games industry.

@Staude

Your aruments are really weak. When I said : "What lesson can we learn from this story? Wii and DS are selling while X360 and PS3 are fighting each others for the crumbs. :P" I just pointed a fact. There was 2 guys fighting each others to determine which was the best console between X360 and Ps3 while people at the cash were buying Nintendo products. This situation symbolise well what is happening in the market right now : PS3 and X360 are fighting each others while Wii and DS are selling hugely.

Not surprising. EB Games have a great variety in quality of service. I have one I really like but usually buy my new games from Amazon, Target, and Walmart.

As for Hotel Dusk, it is not one of my favorites. I did not finish it as the puzzles seemed too random at times and I finally just gave up on it. I prefer the Touch Detective series lighter, sillier, and your choice of actions seem to make more sense to solve problems -- it is also really cheap used.

I see it all the time in stores sales ppl are bias and hotel dusk 215 was fun for me at least.

I wouldnt say they are fighting for crumbs combined they are selling more than the WII.  I would say they went after a different audience than the wii and relazie this generation not much they can do about it.   WII made a brilliant move up front with the casual approach to gaming and motion controllers.  We will see next gen how that affects sony and MS

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

Did you see all those recent charts on this site? Wii is constantly > X360 + PS3 and that, almost every week. So yes, I think it's safe to say they are fighting for the crumbs.

First of all "nintendo" isn't known by the "casuals" in general they know the wii and they might know the ds. Some do some do not. They know the wii because they've seen it on tv, have it or know someone who does. They don't really know nintendo.

The playstation brand as a gaming platform is the most welknown by all groups beside the PC. The reason this is different is because most people don't connect the ds or the wii or the gamecube. Simply because their names are so different and your regular joe won't do the research to find out that they are all made from the same company. On the other hand when you say playstation it can be any console from sony. I don't mention microsoft because i really don't know anyone who has a xbox.

What? Did I really just read that? If you think the Playstation brand is better known than the overall name Nintendo, you have got to be smoking the good stuff. In fact, straight through the PS1's lifespan, nongamers called it and every other console "the Nintendo". This goes back from 86 and finally started seperating into Playstation, Nintendo and Xbox around 2002 or so. So all those casuals, who used to be nongamers, remember "the Nintendo" that their kids played back in the 80s and 90s.  There was no NES, SNES, N64, etc for these people, only "the Nintendo".  Now with the popularity of the Wii and DS, people have come full circle to playing "The Nintendo" again. Though most of the casuals like calling it "The Wii" better, less syllables I guess.

wot.. and to hawk too.. i've never head anyone call a playstation a nintendo.. infact when they would mention any gaming machine they would refere to it as a playstation. Or by it's name (when they knew) What the hell ? i don't think i know anyone who knows nintendo better :\ what you are saying is completely alien to me.

hmm... i guess the world isn't so small afterall.

Unlike you guys, i live in europe ("sonyland") in Denmark which appears to be one of the only countrys on earth where the ps3 seems to be selling more than the wii :P (not saying it does, cause i don't know if it does, but it seems like it do)

It might be a reason why that is different.

@atma998 my point is that while microsoft is whole heartedly attacking sony in many ways only responds on oaccasions while they most of the time try to avoid the nonsense, and that the only thing holding sony back from taking more of the casual market is price.

I didn't mean to derail the thread, i simply thought that the comment was a bit of a cheapshot. And i don't think it was alright what the EB sales clerk did either. :)

Check out my game about moles ^

I limit my Gamestop trips to one store (out many due to either fanatical pushing of a particular platform or selling pre-orders after 24 hours).

I actually stopped in at the mall store after eating lunch, today, and asked how the 360 sales were going since the pricecut. The sales guy started going on and on about how great sales were, got a funny look on his face, then looked over at a lady 10 feet away who turned away in disgust. I asked who that was and he whispered, "that's the Sony rep."

Guess they'd better watch how much they gush over a platform.

Is stand by my statement according to VG chartz  today

WII total 32.91 million

360 total 21.20 million

PS3 total 15.71 million

360 and PS3 combined have more sales than the WII currently I would not call that scraps, I will admit WII is thumping them both and will clearly win this generation.
