Do we have to go through sold vs shipped again? Companies report sold to retail, not sold to consumers, in their financial reports (which I guess is your source). VGChartz list sold to consumers.

No, that is officially the biggest fail I've read today, and I've been on GameSpot. It says: "GTA SA has SOLD 21.5 million copies", not "The company or whatever has sold GTA SA copies". Don't be jealous now. and for source, it's down but its name is TAKETWOVALUE.

Wait, GTA is the king? Halo 3 has the highest single plat opening, GTA is far behind for best selling total for the game, and for the total sales of the franchise, it's in 3rd place.

Also, it hasn't sold. Companies don't track sold, they track shipped - as that's what they know. Thinking otherwise just adds to the proof that you have no clue whatsoever regarding this topic.

Dude, you seem obsessed with GTA selling good. After 18 posts, you have made at least 5 posts going off topic to talk about how great GTA has sold.

That's just stupid. The game didn't revenue 500M dollars before 1 month had passed, at that time it had sold 8.3M, which might total 500M REVENUE. Profit has yet to break even 200M I would believe.

 

So stop trying to bullshit the people of VGChartz. We don't fall for it, and you only make yourself look like a fool.

You really think this guy knows how to find the financial reports.

@predictsales... finally a little info from you (not exactly a link unfortunately) So you got it from GameSpot, (which isn't down for me... so hopefully you can get a direct link now)

GameSpot is a website, a website that posts news articles, they do not understand the difference between shipped and sold anymore than you do, I am seachng the site now, but the article likely came straight from Take2 announcing they have sold that many (no other place than here tracks worldwide sales as a single entity, which means it must have been Take2 announcing the SHIPMENTS)

Which states your figure... the article gives Take2's president as the source.... Take 2 does not announce worldwide sales to gamers because they cannot know it, what they do announce is how many they have sold to retailers (classed as shipped on this website) which means Take2 sold them, but they have not all been bought yet by gamers.

Why do these trolls even bother?

I believe that MKWii will be over 10M by the end of the year. Of course sales will slow down after, but it can make it.
